Instead of a lawn, i like how the peanut plant looks like. Im not really sure if thats the real name though, but it is being used for ground cover. Another that is nice is mint.

Yes, I like peanut, too. They also bloom with little yellow flowers when in season. You can't walk on peanut, though, so, if you intend some kind of a lawn, peanut isn't it. I use it for accent, like the sides of the walkway to my front door.

I planted Blue Grass on my lawn. It has shorter blades than the regular bermuda grass but has the same tight covering. Big advantage is that it grows very slowly so no need to mow so often.

But, just like Bermuda Grass, a lot of people don't enjoy lying down on it: the blades are rather prickly. I don't mind it. Personal preference. You can also always get a mat.

Well in my case, a few years back I bought some fifteen small seedling of this peanut plants at a garden outlet at SOUTH SUPERMARKET along Ligaya st. in Pasig, planted it along the right side of my private road from the entrance gate up to our garage and from there on learn to love this variety of ground cover specially in the morning when small yellow flowers will fill the whole strech along the road, napaka gandang tingnan. Its also very easy to maintain and easy to propagate for accents on gardens or wide spread planting.

I do love also the lowly carabao grass, it spreads out easily on my lawn and under the manggo trees and large acacia trees. This grass helps prevent soil erosions during strong and continous rain.

Here are some pics I took awhile ago showing my lawn covered with " carabao grass " and peanut plants a few days after the continues rain brought by typhoon Bebeng.

In these first set of pics, the entire lawn used to be brown due to summer heat but due to continues rainfall it has become green again and cool to the sight.:p
Plants became alive again as if they were celebrating and rejoicing the coming of the rainy season.

Another set of pics showing parts of the lawn covered by peanut plants.

In this set of pics, it shows the side portion of my driveway from the gate up to the area of the garage. Peanut plants have become lush again and greeneries have become somewhat intense and crisp due to the continues rainfall this past few days.

The last pic shows also the various plants and the surrounding ground covers have become so alive again and so green, its as if they are rejoicing and thanking the rainfall. 🙂

Those small trees with light yellow leave are called chinese lettuce tree or colis or its scientific name is Bisonia Alba and they could grow also up to 8 to 10 meters tall but what I do is trim and cut the top branches up to only 6 ft tall and after a few weeks new shoots of light yellow leaves will now start to appear. Para ba silang binobonsai, just letting the base trunk grow and increase in diameter. 😉 😉 😎 😎

They are also easy to propagate, simply by cuttings only.

Yes jarod, someday, maybe someday when I have realized my dream Gazebo or " Kamalig " or a Bali style Pavilion on the extreme left of the picture. With a large koi pond surrounding the Gazebo and with all the ameneties there in where I can do my art or unwinding with the family close to nature.:cheers::painting::2thumbsup:

Nope I don,t use any sprinkler on my lawn nor use drippers on my plants, I leave it to the Lord above to water my lawn and plants but during summer time I water all of them twice or thrice a week. I have a huge concrete water reservoir built here in my place.
