Re: Best choice of Ground Covers for pocket gardens or large lawns

@ Ashock,

Nope I don,t use any sprinkler on my lawn nor use drippers on my plants, I leave it to the Lord above to water my lawn and plants but during summer time I water all of them twice or thrice a week. I have a huge concrete water reservoir built here in my place.[/Q

Well good for you if you can really realize your dream of having a nice or beautiful garden of your own. Why don't you visit ORTIGAS Home Depot or TRUE Value at the Shangrila in Mandaluyong, they have garden sections there and you can ask some informations sa mga sales clerks doon.

I heard about frog grass, ok kaya?

I suppose for your soil preps, you need to cultivate the soil after which you water it regularly, maybe twice a day. Yes "frog grass" would just be fine if you prefer that type. Its similar to "carabao grass" but does not grow upwards but more of side ways, its also a low maintenance ground cover. Just needs to be fertilized ones a month.

Oh I forgot to mention, instead of adding white sand (buhangin) to the soil, better yet add rice husks (ipa), this is good for drainage and moisture retention of your soil.

Good luck and happy gardening !! :flower2::flowerysmile:

Currently, I cultivated it to rid the unwanted grass and let it dry/die, Matigas na talaga ang lupa, masakit sa kamay gawain. I will start planting when the rain comes regularly.

@ rosy, nice lawn pre 🙂 ... my neighbor also have this peanut plant at their house. i really like the feeling of walking barefoot on it, parang natural carpet 🙂 he he he ... kaya me and my wife decided to use this peanut plant as the cover grass in front of the house ... i hope mabilis din kumalat ito when we plant it, once mapatag ko na yun lupa sa harap, just in time for the rainy season ... cheers

Instead of a lawn, i like how the peanut plant looks like. Im not really sure if thats the real name though, but it is being used for ground cover. Another that is nice is mint.
