Hi guys!
Any of you have any luck with locally available bug-zappers? Our family has owned three over the past 20+ years, and none have really worked. The last one i personally purchased around three years ago didn't really do much of anything. Which brands have you guys tried that actually work (zapping sound when mosquitoes get fried a BIG PLUS but not necessary!), and where can I get them?

if your purpose of buying one is for mosquitoes, don't buy one. Bug zappers are not effective on mosquitoes because they are not attracted to UV light.
Re: Bug Zappers
thanks estib. I read about on-line and here's an article i found:
http://home.howstuffworks.com/bug-zapper1.htm
Seems i'm better off sticking to my old baygon insect repellent device.
Re: Bug Zappers
Those are bugs. Insects. Who really cares about swatting flies when cats and dogs are being killed everyday.
But I still hate PETA. They don't go about things the right way.
Those are insects, not animals.
If you feel so strongly why start your own Insect lobby?
If you do.... may I suggest .... don't call them bugs or insects, try the freindly approach call them
....."Minibeasts"

Ya same thing here in my house, we've owned a number of them bug zappers and eventually
got tired of it because it gets dirty to and everytime a mosquito or a fly gets caught and be fried
it would expell a foul smell or odor. It also adds up to the electrical consumption since electricity use this days are getting expensive.
What I did was to plant NEEM trees around the house, its an anti-mosquito plant. I also went
back to using anti mosquito/bug spray particularlly the water base sprays, eco-environmental
friendly pa, I don't use the alcohol or petroleum base sprayers.
