Hey 2diy4, I just don't know if my suggestions to your topic will still stand since your last post was in July 17, 2007. Maybe by this time you've done some improvements already on that 2 x 2 meters of vacant space beside your house. Para bang magiging ang dating ko ay

ANYWAY, since the vacant lot is only 2x2 meters, I think it will not be that hard or expensive to improve that area. Try landscaping the area, clear the area of grass and other debris then flatten the ground. Maybe you can pour concrete on it or put decorative pavers or flagstones.

Then maybe you can put a round table and chairs for four, those table with colorful umbrella attached in the center, then place them in the center of the vacant space., see now you have a small patio. Ok now the plants,choose plants that can survive with little sunlight like coleus, their leaves are very colorful and you can plant them in decorative pots. They're also easy to propagate, just by cuttings. You can also use sanchezsia, their leaves too are fantastic if planted in clumps, then maybe you can also plant some yellow bells on one corner, its a vine or a climber so you'll have to use some trellis for it to cling on. Year round this vine bear beautiful yellow flowers.

Another suggestion could be ferns, this plant thrieves in places with very minimum sunlight.
