Hey guys,

So I have this MASSIVE wall (6 meter tall by 10m wide) that I have been trying to cover with a vine plant for almost two years - but the thing just grows so slowly. I love the plant - but now part of it is starting to die.

My yaya says we're watering it too much, my housekeeper says it's needs more water, my friend says it needs more fertilizer. lol.

It's a common plant / vine that I see all over. Anyone have any experience with this plant? Anything I can do to make it grow quicker? At this rate will take 12 years to cover my wall!!

I wasn't able to upload images - but here are two pictures of the plant I'm talking about - and the massive wall it has to climb.

HI there ghost,

Let me say this bro, vines like that are sturdy with sort of thick spreading branches as they mature and spreads more new fresh branches so to be able to cling to the surface provided for them, they are known as FICUS VINES and I like them too coz a full grown of these well spread vines looks cool to look at on a wall, its as if you have a vertical garden in your place.

I guess by this time you won't be needing any sort of watering your vines since we have been drenched already with rains and floods this past few days due to the monsoon season, 😮 what your vines need is a regular schedule of applying some growth fertilizes, these fertilizers can be purchased from mall hard wares at their gardening section. You will have to feed your vines every 15 days of regular intervals. How to apply it ? On your planting bed and the stretch of 10 meters, apply the white granulated fertilizer on the entire stretch by pinch amount only ( pa kurot kurot lang na dami ), spreading it very very thin coz too much of the fertilizers will burn the roots and will eventually kill the plant. Hopefully on your next schedule of fertilizing your vines, you will see new fresh growth of leaves, just do the same, fertilize them again, ( pa kurot kurot lang ang application ng fertilizer ), but from time to time maybe ones a week try to cultivate the soil for aeration purposes. In the long run if you see the main plant's trunk to be maturing, you can reduce your schedule of applying fertilizers already to only ones a month as maintenance for their food, just to keep the soil healthy. 🙂

HOPE this HELPS and good luck on your vines !!!! 😉
