An addition to your open roof deck is a small trellis where you can hang your air plants and place some garden benches
under it. Since your deck is open to abundant sunlight and rain, it is wise to select plants that are sun loving. Of course
the plants you will be placing there will just remain in black plastic containers and placed in beautiful clay pots.

Some dwarf palm trees will be ok for a tropical look.
Maybe varieties of Sanseviera trifasciata.
For flowering plants, the dwarf suntan, Bankok calachuchi, bougainvilleas.
For colorful leaves, Cordyline fruticosa ( Red Star, Dwaf Pink, Firebrand ), Caladium ( Bicolor ), Varieties of San Francisco and many more you can choose from in your neighborhood Plants and Garden shop.
Have some Birds' Nest too, nice to have some hanging plants here and there.

Hope this helps

, rosy is right, a trellis would be nice in your roof deck. to further block the sun, use a garden net (use the #70 which is more fine compared to #60, #70 blocks more sunlight) for the roof of the trellis to further reduce the sunlight under the trellis.

as for plants, i will recommend you to include citronella plants around the trellis to drive away mosquitos in the area. they love the sun. actually, they grow fast in areas where there is a lot of sunlight ... cheers
