Hi guys,

I recently renovated my Nanay's garden to make it more elderly friendly and non-green thumb friendly. It was a renovation on a tight budget.

For the pathway, I used red concrete pavers as stepping stones surrounded by G1 gravel. I didn't use the more river expensive stones and pebbles as they are slippery at nilulumot. G1 gravel ay hindi raw nilulumot. And because of its different shape, hindi sya slippery. Para pa nga syang naglalock.

I retain the low maintenance full sun plants.

For the grass, I use the new frog grass. Though expensive, it's very low maintenance. The previous bermuda and blue grasses napabayaan, kaya napuno ng ligaw na damo.

I got a lot of leftover gravel and some pavers which I used in a pocket garden infront of the house (naging tambakan lang din ito dati ng trash bins, etc).

And I still have about half cubic meter of gravel.

Here's what I did. I separated the grayish gravel from the brownish rust-colored gravel. I created a series of planters in front of the house's concrete fence, and attached the gravels alternately (dati kasi plain 4-in CHB lang iyong nandun).

I just reused some plants instead of buying new ones. The old white stones from the grotto na mejo nilumot na, I used to decorate the planters and plant box, acting as mulch. Gravel also serves as mulch.

My question now is can I use a sealer or concrete sealer on the planters and the pavers so that they would retain their bright colors and glossyness?

My next question is what to do with the leftover G1 gravel for a garden project?

TIA for the suggestions and advice.

Neo

Madaming salamat Sir Rosy, 🙂

Gusto nila colorful daw.

I saw your garden pix. Anggaganda! Can't wait to see your steel garden fixtures. 🙂

Salamat ulit, Sir.

Bro NEO,

EHE he he he he he , kaya nga tinawag na DIY EH, ikaw ang gagawa at hindi ibang tao.

It is really very rewarding to oneself when one finishes a project or projects specially when you see the end result plus other appreciate what you have finished. Congrats to your nanay, friends and relatives, they have a son that can produce beautiful arrangement of plants and pocket gardens, they are so lucky to have you, you can do wonders around your house. :p

Like me too, medyo kuripot and do not want to hire a hardinero, I'D rather do the gardening myself, I love to commune with nature and plants, I like to be part of the various plants growing stages. watering, fertilizing and trimming them plants. 😉

When it comes to your excess gravel, don't rush your garden projects, put them in sacks and store them in your garage or back of the house, maybe in the near future you will have good use for them again in your plans. 😀

Bro Neo, my son is a Landscape architect and that is what they do, design landscape gardens big or small that is why I do recognize also beautiful arrangements of plants and garden landscaping, just like what you just did so again congrats on your DIY garden projects, though medyo magastos lang sa materyales, LOL
