Sir,
What's the best tree for wind-breaking? We live in an open field, I hope you can help us in selecting the right tree in terms of spacing, area requirement, growth period?

Well from experience, the ("Tree of Life") coconut trees are good wind breaks, planted at 8 or 10 feet apart. Hard to uproot and the trunk just sway with the wind. Or you can try planting Mahogany trees planted at 2 or 2.5 meters apart, a fast growing tree and will greatly bring ample amount of shades.

Now if you think the two trees mentioned above are not good enough then try the Pili trees or Sampalok trees, these are evergreen trees with branches that are somewhat tough (makunat).

Hope this helps.
