I have a 110V 1800W vaccum cleaner, since binili namin to abroad ndi ko pa sya nagamit kc walang 110V outlet sa bahay. Nag tanong ako ng transformer pero same price sa vacuum ko. Naghanap ako ng electrician to convert 220 to 110 pero ayaw nila. Ano kayang best option ang gagawin ko?

There is a discussion on this site about getting 110 volts from the Meralco line. But you need to make sure that you have three line service going into your house. Otherwise, you need a good ground, but that is not advisable as too many things can go wrong.

The "one side to ground" method of getting half the voltage (220/2 =110)from a regular CO is possible but not reliable. It usually reads 130-135 volts on my meter. Some appliances can tolerate it, some can't. You can take the risk. If you have a 3-prong isolated aircon outlet in your house, you can use a volt meter and see which combination of 2 lines can give you 110 volts. This will be safer because for sure the line is overrated. But Meralco says this is illiegal. They say for some reason, using the grounding prong makes a portion of the power used, not read by the meter.
