Re: Home water filtering system

with the onset of the rainy season, I am seeing some algea specs in my filter. It has not yet developed into a full bloom. I think the water tank that feed my water line is contaminated. is there a way to kill these algea within the water line? I have told the maintenance personel about chlorinating the tank but they said it is done regularly.

Re: Home water filtering system

I used to represent a company called Eurowater w/c then supplies filtration equipment to large and small scale users like Sea world, Goldilocks, etc. Here are some of the things I remember about general treatments... You must have your water tested for microbiological and chemical state to determine the current h2o quality and how to select your media of need. The scale or Micron selection is dependent on the pressure available and the volume of solid or dissolved particles as well as soluble chemicals that may arise from your H2O test. If your water test yields a high ppm value of soluble Iron then you have to use an activated carbon type of cartridge to remove that rusted taste and smell. If you experience a lot of scaling in your water then you have use a low micron rating cartridge to reduce contaminants that form scales in contact with your faucets and pipes. If your water yields bacteria or microbial contaminants then you have to add extra equipment like a UV light treatment machine. Make sure that the Uv machine has enough strength to kill bacteria at a faster rate than your H2o flow. From our household installations we use a pre-filtering stage of about 10 microns or bigger to reduce presence of large particles entering your main or point of use filtration. From there you may now use a 5 micron filter to reduce sedimentary particles and other contaminants that affect your system. If you sense that the your water still needs further filtration you may use a 1 micron rating to address problems with soluble chemicals that affect your H2o quality. You may also combine 2 types of cartridges at the point of use. I always add Activated carbon media and a Poly-spun fiber to my system. Nowadays they have a dual media cartridge that does both jobs in one cartridge but I still prefer them in independent packaging. Some brands deteriorate faster than others. You just have to test them each time you change cartridges. Also have your treated water tested to check if you have addressed the issues of your water.

Re: Home water filtering system

Mga sir, question po on water filtration. For those na ang source ay Manila Water or Maynilad, do we need to add a UV light in our filtration system(saw one, U.S.-made priced at 28K). Or to have a filtration system na reverse osmosis(around 20K)? Or would a normal 3 stage systems be good and safe enough?

Not an expert but I think Maynilad's water is supposed to be potable. Although in our area (Manila) the tap water smells like chlorine. Early this year, I purchased a 2 stage water filter for our main line (Sediment and Carbon). There water coming from the taps is clear and the chlorine and rust was totally gone. Still I don't use it for drinking.

Should you want a drinking water, then maybe you can put additional filters/UV in the kitchen.

@rosy

we just bought our megafresh 3 stage filter. i'm curious po how does megafresh water taste like po sanyo?

Sa amin kase it tasted kind of salty and a bit metallic even though we let the water run out for several minutes and rinsed the filter under running water.
