Re: Installing Split Type Aircon
Still, you need to watch your 'expert' or 'authorized' installer, and ask questions.
We had the authorized Panasonic dealer install some Panasonic inverter-type A/C units before. They...
-- used undersize electrical wires, in breach of contract
-- used undersize drain pipes, in breach of contract
-- made poor drain pipe joints in several locations, e.g., missing or inadequate solvent, or transitioned from larger to smaller diameter pipe. Since the pipes are embedded in the concrete wall, these led to leaks inside the wall, blistered paint, and ruined flooring
-- did not work according to promised schedule, were difficult to coordinate with, leading to significant delays
Eventually, most of the problems (except for pipe size) were corrected under warranty, walls repainted, flooring replaced, etc., but it was a major pain dealing with this authorized Panasonic dealer/installer.
Re: Installing Split Type Aircon
Wow, that's very efficient, almost EEI of 14.5.
Correct, the official test read 95.2% of the claimed 15.3 EER. DOST-ITDI's aim is to provide data for consumers in selecting proven environmentally safe and efficient products. I'm glad Panasonic, LG and the rest came up w/ such a great technology.
Re: Installing Split Type Aircon
Hi All,
Wait a minute. Do aircon suppliers provide the installation of the split type units for free or is this an added cost? I think my sister was given a separate quote for the installation...only the surveying was free.
Can you recommend suppliers/dealers?

Depends on the brand/seller, some offer free installation up to 10feet of tubing, as long as your rlectrical connections are ready.
Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.
Re: Installing Split Type Aircon
Bigfoot is probably right.
I recall inquiring at Automatic Center some years back and it so happened that all the aircon vendors there offered free survey and installation (up to certain lengths). But things change so best to ask.
Re: Installing Split Type Aircon
what they mean by undercapacity?
Re: Installing Split Type Aircon
It means,as compared to other brands with the same power rating (consumption), it gives out less cooling power.

Re: Installing Split Type Aircon
power rating or cooling power in KJ/KW. misleading kasi ang horsepower. hinde talaga sila pareho kahit sa car or any equipment.
Re: Installing Split Type Aircon
Good thing I didn't buy Idec. I knew something was fishy with its uber cheap price. Went with LG instead (excellent after-sales service).
Hi to all,
I need some advice please.
I have two adjacent room with 7.2 sqm each. They were divide by wood wall with one foot opening on top (wall to wall) and exhaust fan at one corner to cool the other room. The other room have a 1.5 HP window type aircon (conventional). I did't get even cooling in both room. I would like replace it with 1.5 HP split type inverter series to save the cost of electricity. I am planning to install the indoor unit in between the wood wall. Is this possible and can I get the same cooling for both room?
Your reply is very much appreciated.
@ rotber, the ideal option is to really buy a split-type inverter aircon with at least 2 indoor units (i think they are called multi-unit, which is what we use in SG before) if the price difference is within your budget ... e.g. instead of buying a 1.5HP with a single unit, check out the price of a 1HP multi-unit and also do some research in the internet if it can handle both rooms.
as to your plan (unit between the wood wall ; unit is perpendicular to the wall), technically it will work. just not sure how effective it will be in cooling both rooms. you have to consider the placement (height) of the unit from the floor. there is a recommended height from the floor in installing the unit to maximize air circulation - very important to cool the room fast. placing the unit on the top of the wall may not be a good idea especially if your house is a one storey (too cose to the kisame/roof which is hot and also not good for air circulation). this means that you may have to make a new opening at the wall below the top opening. in your plan, you also need to take into consideration how you are going to easily clean (e.g. filter) the indoor unit ... cheers
Boo!
Hi guys,
I need some help and opinion regarding buying a window type inverter aircon or a split type inverter aircon. I'm choosing between Hitachi and LG - Hitachi 1.0 HP RA-10HV or LG 1.5 HP HS12IPM. Our room is around 18-20 SQM.
I really would like to get the LG but I'm worried about the hassle of getting a new circuit breaker, the survey and installation and the installation cost , etc.
I'm now considering Hitachi due to it's window type nature but I can't see any reviews about it's performance and power consumption. Any thoughts?
Hope to hear from you guys. TIA.
your room requires at least 1.5hp for non-inverter aircon. I've read inverter type aircon requires a higher hp for the same floor area.
Panasonic is still the name for inverter ac. Hitachi was the first to market a window type inverter ac but is quite pricey even with its recent price reduction. we have discussion about ac in tsikot. try to look for that thread and ask if someone actually used the unit you are eyeing.
Thanks for all your responses. Mukhang di yata kakayanin ng powers ko na iDIY to here. Matrabaho yung paglatag ng bagong cable from the main circuit breaker on the 1st floor going up to the second floor. I guess i will just get an electrician to do this.
