What's a good TV to purchase these days ... around 32 to 40"?

I saw the Sony CX32 Internet TV for around 28K but don't know much as I have not been updated on my reading regarding this subject.

Thanks

Re: TV

three things id consider when buying TV nowadays:
1. power consumption
2. hi def capability
3. size

i only have a 32 inch toshiba regza running at about 110 watts...two years na...1080p.

if money will permit me..id go now for the Sony 40" LED running at only 68 watts..priced at 40K too..1thousand pesos per inch?hehe

perhaps 40" is in ....like in the 80's when we dream of 21" trinitrons...anything bigger id use my lcd projector.

to be able to use the tv for internet is a just a plus for me and not a requirement.

my budget limit though for a 40 incher is also at 40K.

at least four brands i trust.
1. sony (no mostly made in malaysia)
2. samsung
3. toshiba
4. philips

btw..i still have in the kitchen my 16" wide kirara sony..picture still very fresh until this time since 1996!

😉

Re: TV

Jay,

Sony CX32 is 22K in Avant, Glorietta near Powerbooks
Toshiba 32PB10 (17.5K) - LCD, HD Ready, Auto Signal Booster
Panasonic 42X30 (25K) - Plasma, HD ready

Sony, LG, Samsung = 2 years warranty
Toshiba, Panasonic, (anything Plasma) = 1 year warranty

I like the Toshiba as it the components are realy robust and most Sony boards are made by Toshiba still. Unfortunately, the warranty is shorter. LG has good models and servicing but I find the recent bleeding issues average price less attractive.

You may check for reviews at PinoyDVD.com better yet, you may try to visit the ff showrooms for side-by-side comparison of flat panels:
- Sights and Sounds

Re: TV

Why stop at 40"?

Two years ago I saw a 108-inch Panasonic at Anson's near Landmark. Only PHP2.5M. Almost bought it. I changed my mind because they were charging me extra for the delivery.

Re: TV

As bro jarod said, better visit pinoydvd.com. Stay away from Lg, yes good service and longer warranty BEC you will need it often. For plasma better get panasonic or toshiba, for LCD - LED better get samsung or sharp. How will you use your tv pala? For movies get a plasma, for gaming-computing then get an LCD-LED.

Best shop to get it is sight and sounds at Shang mall, look for Vic the owner, you can mention my name para matawa sya hahaha.

Re: TV

Internet capable TV are just lovely to hear but not that convenient and very limited as well. Only if you'll get a network media tank (NMT) that act as a digital hard disk player to your TV, will you get better internet capability and surfing (with a micro keyboard 🙂

Why stop at 40"?

Two years ago I saw a 108-inch Panasonic at Anson's near Landmark. Only PHP2.5M. ..

Better get a projector (PJ) instead for that price. You may call brother ricky for PJ screens 😉

4. I would probably get 3-D ready na rin....

IMHO, 3D is still at it's infant stage. The active 3D are still too expensive as they are still recuperating from R&D costs. I have also tried viewing passive 3D TVs that I could hold off but ironically the person looks a 2D image just lifted from the background - that is not what I call 3D but a digital paper tole.

what do you think of a 42" LED TV for only 27K? i saw this KTC brand in TPC. it's china-made and local reviews say it's a good buy.

It's a hit and miss for the KTC brand. As per experiences in PDVD, there's a lemon in 1:5 ratio and as far as I know, only one center in Espana is doing the services.

+1. Vic is the owner of Sights n Sound (SnS) in Shangri-La and many would attest to the services - before and after sales. No personal experiences though. I could give you a recent price list from their line-up (not linked whatsoever, just wanna help).

Mostly TV and at times DVD movies.

Plasma is recommended but an LCD is ok as well. It would all boil down to the budget actually.

Re: TV

Toshiba pb10 series would be the best bet for you jay just like what bro jarod suggested kasi sya Lang may signal booster for cable tv viewing. Unless you are already using a digibox with hdmi output then LCD would be fine I guess.

Re: TV

Thanks for the info Jarod / Ricky ...bros ..... now here are my cards. My Symbo watches TV and cable ( Destiny ) when she's fee and loves it. The old 25" Sony flat tube screen in the bedroom is aging. The bed's headboard is around 8 to 10 feet away from the TV.

1. I just want a Metal cutting saw and the deal is I could get one if I replace the bedroom TV also.
2. Will 32 inches work out well at that viewing distance.
3. I only have 50K to spend. The metal saw cost around 23K so that leaves me around 27K budget for a TV
4. Internet TV capability not needed and would rather wait when it matures a bit. So is 3D.

What TV can I get for that much money . Bang for the buck. Preferably Sony or a good name brand if possible. I know next to nothing now about plasma or lcd as I have not updated myself on these stuff for a long time now.

Thanks again for inputs.

Just look for Vic so he can give you a BETTER DEAL than what is posted above, tell him Ricky of pdvd referred you to him .

Re: TV

You may try to consider a 42" at the 8-10 ft viewing distance, but if the 25" is your reference and it's still ok with you, then 32" will be fine.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.
