Bros,

We have a 10 year old Magic Chef family size upright washing machine. It has served us well although had been repaired twice already ( change bearings and second rewind motor ). I plan to relegate this to backup duty now and procure a new one to serve as the main workhorse.

I'm a bit at a loss on which brand and model would be a better choice. I hope you could give some info on what you have purchased / used and how it went. Price paid would really be helpful.

In as much as I want a good standalone belt sander I was thinking that if the washing machine breaks down then the belt sander can't wash clothes. I have to channel the budget in order to make a washing machine purchase.

Thank you so much. 🙂

Re: Washing Machine

A friend of mine in Malaysia has been using a Samsung upright for 4 years now. So far wala pa namang problems.

This influenced my choice when I bought one a few months back. I forgot the exact model but its a 6kg Samsung with Diamond Drum. Fully automatic (wash-rinse-spin) kaya pwede kang sabay na maglaba at mamlantsa. 😀

Got it for 9.6K yata.

Re: Washing Machine

I think I can also recommend an LG TurboDrum, its a 7.0kg washing machine and spin dry in one and we've had it for more than 7 or 8years now but can't remember how much it cost then.

I can attest to its being a heavy duty washing machine cause I would use it from time to time when me wife would command, 😀 ha ha ha ha :work:

Re: Washing Machine

Front loading is more energy and water efficient, supposedly.

On high end, eliminating the US brands leaves Electrolux I think, normally pricey but not by much compared to the Asian brands during promos.

As for new tech, check out LG inverter direct drive, 10 yr motor warranty. I found that our neighborhood appliance store could offer better discount (e.g., 20%) than the big mall appliance stores.

Last I checked, Panasonic did not have an inverter ('Eco-Drive') model yet, but maybe there is now.

Thanks Guad. I'll check the inverter direct drive tech.

I need a heavy duty washing machine. So far I'm satisfied with the aging Magic Chef top loading. For this reason alone I wanted another top loadier. If front loading is more efficient then I'm including the design in the list.

Re: Washing Machine

Front loading saves a lot more water, but I'm not sure if it has spin dry function also. Price wise it is more expensive.

For frequent use, maybe it wil be more economical in the long run. You might have to do a little math on this.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

This is what I also considered before because it doesn't need to have all the clothes soaked in water thus less water is needed. I was advised however by my officemates who uses a front-loading machine to get a good brand as there are tendencies of leaking around the circular door as time passes by.

However, I decided to go with the top loading since front-loading are more expensive, getting the clothes are easier in the top-load as you don't have to bend always and most of all because it was a gift from my officemates :cheerleader3:

PS: I have to admit, it is always very amusing to boast that I do the laundry. Most of the time they ask me if it was hard for me, I just tell them that "sanayan lang.." without them knowing that I got a fully automatic washer ::laundry:
