Re: Washing Machine

Recently went on a hunt for a new washing machine.

Initial choice was a washer/dryer combo but chickened out after considering the potential electricity cost. Thought about a front-loading washer as this would spin-dry clothes better (at 1000rpm vs 850rpm of top-load unit).

Eventually settled for a fully-automated top load washer (no agitator - gentler on clothes) based on the following considerations:
1. cost - at least P10k cheaper than a front-load unit
2. since maid namin ang maglalaba, less "sama ng loob" kung masira

Re: Washing Machine

Hi to all! Newbie here and I just wanna ask if it's safe and okay to plug both refrigerator (no frost) and fully automatic washing machine in one duplex plug. Live in a small condo unit where space is quite limited. Thanks in advance...

Re: Washing Machine

By fully automatic, I assume you mean that it has a dryer cycle. This consumes a lot of power and may affect the refrigerator.

A wise move would be just to turn off the refrigerator while doing the laundry.

Or maybe during the dryer cycle only.

Just...[COLOR="Red"]DRILL IT!

Re: Washing Machine

Resurrecting this thread as I have a need for a new washing machine.

My whirlpool is about to die, SMBO says. A friend of hers swears by Speed Queen. It's a little-known brand among consumer models but supposed to be well known in commercial laundries. They have some heavy duty ones locally available. 2 year warranty plus 5 years on transmission. Looks ugly but looks solid.

Anyone have any experience with this brand?

I vote/salute for speed queen. I owed one with 10.5 Kg capacity - Topload LWS17NW-3322
The unit is 100% FRONT serviceable (to expose the guts).
The direct drive transmission(opposed to other belt drive) is bullet proof and all parts are available. Been using my topload for almost 7+ with no issues. Just recently replace the top cabinet metal part as its started getting rust.

Speed Queen are manufactured by Alliance Laundry in US which makes Cissell, Huebsch, IPSO, and UniMac. Theres are commercial grade heavy duty washer.

You can inquire to the Philippine seller:

Re: Washing Machine

I agree.

Been using SpeedQueen more than two years now, no problem at all.

In fact, got the washing machine and the LPG heated drier. Both feel bullet proof and behave as install-and-forget.

Of course, time will tell if it will last the ten years my old one did.

Anyone of you here uses Samsung with this so-called "wobble" feature?

Also, do you guys regularly clean your washing machines as well like supposedly this "eco tub clean" feature?

I find "eco" quite ironic, there's nothing "eco" with it as it seems a lot of water and electricity is wasted with the process...

yes, it needs to be cleaned, especially the stainless steel drum type ... my wife cleans it every 2-3 months. she uses a powder (korean product) that she mixes with warm water and place it in the tub to remove the stains - i think there is one function in the menu just for cleaning the tub ... cheers

Boo!
