Im using LG inverter 1 HP split type. been using it for 2 years now with solid performance and great savings in electric bill. Other split type inverter aircon from samsung, panasonic and carrier will be a good choice. HTH

Stay away from Idec. Bought a 1.5 and 2.5 hp last 2005. The 1.5hp had problems with the blower sobrang ingay.

Then the 2.5hp suddenly shorted yesterday. Almost caused a fire. Plus their after sales service is overcharging. Check up of the unit is 850 (250 lang ang Panasonic). Price of capacitors are severely bloated at 900.

If you have the budget, go for better known brands like Panasonic. Since I was on a budget, I replaced mine with a 2nd hand Pana. no problems. Build quality pa lang, ang layo compared sa Idec.

I've canvassed and studied all the prices and features of A/Cs i can find in the market today and I've come to get the Imarflex brand in Ortigas Home Depot for P11,990. It's digital control is so accurate, it has timer control, has temperature display and the cheapest. I got a 1HP for 13sqm room. I wish i got the 3/4HP because it cools so fast that i think its way above for this room size. The only problem i'm encountering is when you turn it on it starts with cool mode and hi fan, which is manageable. And another thing, using your creditcard its 0% interest for 9 months.

I would:

1. Stay with brands with long standing reputation
2. Avoid extra complicated circuitry such as "computer control", push button, etc. since they add an extra layer of complexity - more things can go wrong and yes they will find a way to go wrong further down the road.
3. Find the reason for being cheap - maybe ask around in your nearby ref/aircon repair shop regarding the brand.

i'd go for carrier/condura, tried and tested for philippine weather. we've got a unit thats still good with over 10 years.

go for a window type if you can. split types are costly to install and maintain.

Mine is condura..but I'll go for inverter type ,less energy consumption it will help you save money..

Just like buying a TV nowadays, no more choice but the flat thin screen. Wala na yung mga model na yung mga model na nakakalaki ng itlog pag binuhat mo :D.

I believe you're trying to decide for a window type AC. Between the two I think Everest is a much better choice. Aside from their window ACs, they also offer a wide selection for split types [wall, ceiling and floor mounted] and inverter types as well.

But personally, if the reason why you're choosing between the 2 brands is their low costs then I suggest to stretch your budget a little bit and settle with Condura or Kelvinator. Mura pero good quality and they have a lot of service centers scattered in the country [since locally made by Concepcion-Carrier] for warranty and after sales services.

In the end its your choice but whatever that is, try to find the model with a timer [doesn't matter if its manual or digital, basta may timer!] to save you some money on your electricity bills.

I agree. Our first aircon is Kelvinator. Now it is a Condura. I like Kelvinator better because it is more quiet than the Condura we use now.

My other choice before ws Panasonic.

I suggest buying known brands so it'll be easier to fix in case there is a problem.

RE: Inverter aircon --> not advisable if you';re going to use for extended period of time. Matagal mo mababawi ang puhunan.

I am disappointed with the 5th Condura unit I just bought. It does not provide the same cooling power as my previous ones. I need to set the thermostat lower to achieve the same temp as the middle thermostat settings of my previous units, hence I feel it consumes more electricity to match the temp of my old ones.

I only bought 2 ACs so far. Both are window type, mechanical with timer.

Condura Jr [0.5 hp]

Pros:
- small and compact.
- good cooling capacity
- with low & high fan setting
- energy efficient
- auto on function for fan once the timer reaches zero

Cons:
- you need to unscrew front grill on the sides before you can clean the filter.
- no auto air swing function
- noisier than the Panasonic despite being smaller

Panasonic [0.6 hp]

Pros:
- very quiet and smooth operation
- good cooling capacity
- with low & high fan setting
- energy efficient
- air filter is easy to clean since removable ang front grill

Cons:
- big, bulky & heavy
- no auto air swing function [only for digital models]
- sana meron ding auto on swicth for fan [pero wala!]

I prefer the Panasonic over condura because of its quiet operation and its easier to clean. Based on my observation their 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 & 1.5 hp has the same casing/housing, nagkakatalo na lang sa size ng motor sa loob. You won't mind the bulkiness once its installed na sa window or wall. Also if doing general cleaning you can pull out the actual unit from the casing. Although I wish plastic ung bottom nya para mas rust and corrosion resistant.

As for energy efficiency, around 180-200 kwh monthly consumption. The AC is usually on for 15 hours daily between 1:00pm [after lunch] to 5:00am [next day] usually at thermostat setting of 4 or 5 out of 10. Average monthly bill is 2,000-2,300 pesos including the other appliances. So there goes my two cents!

Back reading this thread. I think a lot agree that Condura is great. We personally use Carrier 1hp enough for a small room window type. Tipid naman sa kuryente kaso mejo not really in with quality kasi 2 years palang sya samin.

"....I feel it consumes more electricity..." --> Feeling mo lang yan pero ano ang sabi ng Meralco bill? Dun mo ibase kasi hindi concrete proof yung "feeling" when it comes to electricity consumption.
