i have monitored this technology for awhile as a DIY person and my only concern, especially in a tropical place like PH is keeping the area cool especially in our country. no matter how much insulation you place between the container and the inside part, your biggest problem will be keeping the inside area cool without using an aircon ... one option you can explore is using 2 containers on top of each other as one room and providing cross ventilation to ensure that there is air circulation in the area ... cheers

container van housing is really interesting. its modular and quick to build... and they say its affordable, but how come we don't see much around? traditional hollow block construction is still the norm. There must be a reason for this (climate, etc). are they really cost effective?

The discussions in this thread seems to be very similar to the " Modular Pod Homes " created by the same author of this thread at the same forum, so may be there a need to merge it there ? Other members might want to check out the former thread to get a glimpse of the ideas contributed by member participants. Still, both topics are very interesting IMO !! :whistle:at kailangan pa ng masusing pag sasaliksik !! :book:

@ sir sm rosy, in my own opinion there's no need to merge both thread. Simply. a lot of members are far more curious and interested in shipping container as house. Pwede nating ikumpara kung ano ang mas feasible para sa karamihan.

* Shipping Container as house will need transport and delivery cost, strong corten steel, earth quake proof etc...

or

* Modular Pod Homes using light steel gauge, MDF board, fibre cement board, colour bond steel etc (can be assemble on site)

i think its better to keep it separate. although both are alternative housing concepts, their materials and design are totally different. combining them into 1 thread will create confusion on the readers point of view as the discussion may shift from one alternative to another from time to time ... cheers
