How do you find the quality and holding capability of the ladder? I looking for one that has at least 120 KG max rating.

Re: All About Drywalling

hmm, the decals are scratched but i'll see if any ratings are posted on them. ino one on my team weighes over 70kg so i never checked. i never felt inesecure on them, even in scaffold mode. the alminum's thick, the ladder's quite hefty.

Re: All About Drywalling

Note I put the hardiflex and jambs inside the partitions before the walls were put up. It's easier that way. Floor and ceiling were completed before partitions.

bro what flooring did you use? i'm planning to use ceramic tiles for the flooring. can i lay the tiles first before the partitions? dont you think the tiles will crack when drilled?

I believe tiles first before installing the metal studs is the way to go. Its easier to lay the tiles: no need to cut, less dust. If the studs and partitions were installed first, they will be half-buried into the floor.

There are drill bits made specifically for ceramic tiles. If drilled properly the tiles won't crack.

Hey bro zepol,

You see now what I meant when I asked for some pics naman ? The pics you have posted gave us ideas now on how it looks and how it is being constructed, it has generated and will make more topics for discussions and for learning. 😀

Bro hindi naman pangit mga pictures mo ah, ok naman though medyo lang maliit, can you adjust the size to 680 X 430 or 630 X 480, teka teka muna nalito na yata ako sa sizing, e correct mo na lang kung ano ang tamang size bro, he he he he , well anyway going back to the construction of your wall, I for one would like to learn also on how you are going to go about on installing your metal frame partitions and see also how you will install the gypsum boards.

Kung pupwede nga e sana step by step ang installation if I'm not asking to much, maganda yan, a lot will learn from it, pics will be permanently recorded to your thread, lalabas e DIYing for real, diba bro zepol ? :p 😉

Thanks for posting pics, :thanks:, it will be easier for us viewers to understand what you are saying and doing, good luck on your drywalling project .

@rosy
i'll try to document some more...
@vyrus
i agree with joey. baka talo ka sa labor if you partition first, more tiles to cut, etc. plus it's cleaner looking.

i'm using vinyl tiles lang

Re: All About Drywalling

Drill with clutch. Invaluable in driving the self-tapping screws. Even cobalt bits don't last while driving hardiflex onto studs. The screws are 2.9mm, meaning the bits for the pilot holes are really small and break easily. Some areas need pilot holes, but 80% of the time my 12v drill does the job.

Re: All About Drywalling

Hey bro zepol,

Are you an architect or a contractor ? Ask ko lang ha, curious kasi, oh or just a simple DIYer, who loves to diy things in the house like most of us here in the PHM community 'coz from the past discussions you seems to know what you are doing or maybe you have done this already in other projects.

Thanks

i'm not a pro at all, but not strictly diy. but part of my responsibilities include getting stuff fixedrebuilt, and by painful and expensive experience i learned that even honest workers need close supervsion. i have one all-around guy, and i make him more productive with proper tools, efficient technique, etc. he's a considerable investment actually.
i also do the planning and materials estimation myself as much as possible.
talented craftsmen are not neccessarily great organizers/planners i'm afraid.
sa execution,

@bryant
i almost regret using hf instead of gypsum. it takes so long to masilya the hf. cornice and baseboard pay for themselves in time and labor by taking care of awang.
i got delayed because i didn't realize the floor wasn't level. the result was we had to trim the hf boards instead of directly fixing them 🙁

Re: All About Drywalling

what i hate about drywalling is finishing. hiding the screws takes so much time! we're using patching compound and fiberglass tape.
is there a better way? i really should try gypsum board...

Re: All About Drywalling

whats the thickness of your metal frame( tracks & studs)? sometimes its hard to hide or sunk the screw head when your using thinner metal, thin metal cant hold the screw thread especially when your not in right position to push the drill during driving screws... how did you install the ficem sheets? may gap ba sa joint? sa mga projects ko. may gap na 1/8" at all purpose epoxy ang ginamit kong joint filler para matibay. kaya lang matagal ang application kasi mag mi-mix pa ng epoxy.
