Re: All About Drywalling

@fortnapz
nominally .5 yung studs and tracks but i didn't measure. it seems na kumapit naman yung screws.
the screws weren't driven perfectly flush though, it was easy to overdo it and drive the screws too deep.

there are large (1/4) gaps at some points sa top and bottom. the floor wasn't level kasi.

Re: All About Drywalling

in retrospect it may have been a supervision issue. it's easier to masilya than to drive screws exactly flush.

Re: All About Drywalling

i mostly supervise, plan, and buy.
i do some parts myself to show them how to do it, or if i don't have any other apppointments - that's mostly electricals, jig making, tool maintenace, and router jobs.

Re: All About Drywalling

What's the best way to attach floor and ceiling tracks? Both ceiling and floor are concrete? What is the distance between studs? My ceiling height is around 8 ft. I have a project comining a month or two, need all the advice I can get. TIA

Re: All About Drywalling

sa concrete, i used 5mm screws and tox.
stud spacing is max at 24". horizontal supports only needed for windowsdoors.
watch out, 8' studs are actually only 204cm, you may need to order 10'

The easiest way to fix tracks on concrete wall is by using Ramset Gun. Isang putok lang baon agad yun nail.

You can use 1" concrete nail para ipako ang tracks. Pag matigas yun concrete pre-drill ka muna ng 3mm using masonry drill bit. Maximum spacing of studs is 24". Also consider the outlet & switches at yun mga isasabit mo sa wall.

8 feet studs ~ 204cm??? Ano brand ng studs mo?

Im using Jea Steel 8ft nila ay standard 244cm, sakto lagi sa boards.

i didn't ask the brand. my supplier's 10' studs were cheaper than jea's 8', but his 8' was 204 cm lang. i got 10', used the extra length for noggins and boxing for reinforcement.
i also used some jea, but again i got 10'. iirc i measured the 8' tapos bitin.

Re: All About Drywalling

@bryant
did you do intersections by fixing a stud against the boards as suggested sa literature?
we worried it might cause maintenance problems, so we fixed directly to the stud. it uses more stud, but if a hf board got broken by accident, it's easier to replace

Yup Ramset gun is the easiest, although hilti has their own power actuated guns too. Problem hirap maghanap nun gun, puro bala Lang. Kaya kami pre- drill then concrete nail para walang kapak, although most contractors don't pre-drill. Also max na sa akin yung 18" spacing between studs plus 1/8" clearance between top and bottom of boards to augment for the dreaded buntis ceiling and flooring.

Re: All About Drywalling

there's a hilti outlet sa west ave.
too late for me now, but the nail gun's really attractive, especially for ceiling work. i might get one for the next job...
