Re: All About Drywalling

i'm planning to use steel frames and gypsum boards for the walls. wooden jambs and 65cm solid wood doors. i'm wondering if steel frames can hold up the weight of solid wood doors.

steel frames can hold the weight of a solid door. actually , what will carry the load of the door is the Jamb not the steel frame (directly) now instead of using 0.60 thickness for the frames, you might wantto go for 0.80mm para maski sliding door, swing door or what ever door you want to put.

try using steel jambs na din while you are at it

Re: All About Drywalling

thanks for the inputs! 'appreciate it a lot! 🙂

another question: in the floor plan above (for bedroom 1), can i attach the jamb directly to the stud of the adjacent wall? or do i need to add another stud to attach the jamb to?

Re: All About Drywalling

i would put another stud on the existing drywall before you attach the jamb. you have to consider that your door will have a door knob, the height of the door knob is more than the thickness of the jamb.

Masonry Putty is the appropriate putty for your concern, you can buy a ready mix putty at any hardware, brands; boysen, abc, sakura, and others, strength also varies depending on application, for dry areas the regular strength is ok and acrylic for wet or outdoor areas.

Re: All About Drywalling

Hi, first time poster here in PHM..

Malapit na kasi ma turn over yung Townhouse sa amin and I'm already excited and checking out how much it would cost for us to partition the 2nd Floor. We are planning to have 3 Bedrooms for the 2nd floor (Medyo Small Rooms lang each)

I was given the measurements although I do not know if this will help. See image below.

How much would it cost if drywall or hardiflex ang gagamitin? Thanks!

Re: All About Drywalling

i also am planning on erecting dry wall partition and have checked prices at wilcon. based on my estimate, a 2.4m high wall, one side 6mm HF and the other 4.5mm HF, with steel track and studs, it goes at around PhP 1150 per meter of wall. On parts only. That is only for the track, stud and HF. Other costs are not yet factored in.

sound proofing a dry wall

Hi, does anybody here know how to sound proof a drywall? i read once sa internet about a rubber strip you put on the floor before you put the tracks on top of. It sorts of seals it. So i wonder if anyone else here did that? what about using fiber something inside the walls?

Re: All About Drywalling

Gypsum board is the choice of most contractors kasi salpak lang, finish na. But I recommend ficem boards like Shera (quality like Hardi but cheaper) kasi they can withstand moisture unlike gypsum na natutunaw. So mas pangmatagalan ito.
