, that was also the same idea that came to my mind when reading your post ... fiber cement board (e.g. hardiflex) using metal studs as the frame. it should be a double wall - hardiflex board inside and outside (thicker board) of the wall, making it like a partition wall in an office building ... its better than using plywood ... cheers

Thanks! I am considering this approach. I am in contact with James Hardie company and they said that it require a special skill to develop the wall, and they have some contractors do it. Isip ko lang e baka mas mahal kung manggagaling sa kanila? Still did not ask for a quote since this is just a plan...for now.

Ayaw mo na ng cement pero try to reconsider tutal small project lang yan. Mas matibay at mas mura. Mas madali ka pang makakuha ng mason. Pwede mo pang ipagaya ang finish ng existing wall to look uniform, happy wheels free play. Ilang tumbling lang yan tapos na hehe... Lagay ka na lang ng tolda para iwas alikabok.

Hi sir..yah, it is indeed a small project but the time it takes to complete might be longer than cement boards? But tama ka, mas madali kumuha ng mason and mura pa. I need to factor in my 2 babies kasi that's why ayoko ng maalikabok at mahabang curing time before mapinturahan at maging usable ung place. Ay hindi ko pala nasabi, the location of the extension is elevated, meaning may concrete steps before you reach where the new wall is to placed at may existing cement flooring. So I was thinking na kelangan pang medyo tibagin ito para makapaglagay ng vertical rebar if CHB ang gagamitin as compared sa cement boards na drill lang ang anchor the metal furrings.

Please do correct me if my assumptions are wrong..hehe.

Mas less mess nga kung stud and boards. Try na lang munang alamin ang rate ng installer ng JH. Kung may makita ka naman nearby just make sure na experienced otherwise baka ma badtrip ka lang. Ang hirap talaga makakita ng masunuring worker. Lahat halos "magaling". Take time to show them videos ng proper installation. Sayang lang ang materials if not properly installed. Tama, magpapatagal sa cement ang curing prior to painting. Good luck.

IMO, a concrete wall us still more durable than cement sheets. So you might want to consider that.

A skilled installer is indeed the key, but may come at a price. Durability is an advantage vs cement boards, but it is a rather small space really. Anyway, thanks for everyone's answers!

Improvement is necessary in house as there is so many things to make. Worth to do it so as small house extension, happy wheels free online.
