What would be the best and practical lighting to be used for bedrooms? the bedrooms we made are typical 10-20 sqm rooms. Would the common recessed downlight fixtures (in circular housing) be the best or would it be the traditional rectangular flourescent lamps? also, how many bulbs would i need per room..? is there a rule of thumb?

PS: the electrician only installed one "port" or wire in the ceiling, but i think we can modify this to handle 2 lamps if needed right?

thank you very much experts πŸ™‚

Re: Best and practical lighting choices for bedrooms

most efficient is surface mount lighting. meaning you install lighting fixture on the surface of the ceiling.

if your considering recessed down light fixture the light will be only focus on one area.

if you electrician just installed one lighting port. you can split it in to two, but sadly you cant individually control the two lighting.

Hate to say it but it depends on your lighting needs. Most are happy with general room lighting and spot lighting......

Do look at LEDs for linear lighting and mood/decor/decorative lighting!!!

I know that warm yellow light is perfect for the bedroom. I have trouble sleeping, so it’s easier for me to fall asleep if the room is twilight. I decided to completely abandon overhead lighting, I found this article https://bestlightguide.com/how-to-light-a-room-with-no-overhead-lighting/ on the Internet and it helped me choose the perfect lighting for me in my bedroom. I use floor lamps and sometimes special reading lamps, this helps me turn on the right lighting depending on my needs.
