Re: Building concrete fence

Hey bro, you are confusing me here, what do you mean by putting a second floor on your fence ? Are we talking here of fencing structure or housing structure ? Please rephrase your question and be specific so I can answer you direct to the point.

Re: Building concrete fence

@ mchammer,

OK bro, much clearer now,

The structure of you wall footing is just fine, that is the same structure of my fence footing, the two 12mm corr. steel bars tied with 10mm steel bars across would appear like a railroad track and its purpose is to have a stronger base or footing for the hollow blocks and also an anchor for the three vertical bars spaced at 1 meter apart from each other in between two posts.

I don't see any reason why there is a need for a tie beam unless on the other side of the fence or adjoining lot, the land or soil is a bit higher than your property, and has a possibility to push or give pressure to your newly constructed concrete wall. I just hope too that three hollow blocks were used for the sub grade of your concrete fence. 😉 🙂

Re: Building concrete fence

exactly sir just like a rail road track. nope only two 4in hollow blocks was placed below. the one who constructed my fence placed rail road track, but another worker whom just passed by told me that you panday should have placed tie beam instead of rail road track, I told my panday what the other panday told me, he told me is he an engineer? did he go to school for that? well i guess its an ego thing. now I'm bit confused about tie beam and rail road track, given the specs that i mentioned in thread #15 can i still make 2nd floor? or is the integrity questionable?
by the way my vertical and horizontal is 10mm

Re: Building concrete fence

@ mchammer,

How tall is your fence and why do you have to put a second floor, what for ? you are confusing me again. I simply cannot comprehend what you are pointing at bro.:confused::rolleyes::rolleyes:

There is a problem here also, why did you use a 4" hollow blocks, its not sturdy enough to carry weight, " masyadong manipis " for a concrete fence. You should have used at least the 5" hollow blocks, " mas maraming semento ang palaman ", better for the hollow blocks and the fence.

Re: Building concrete fence

my wall fence is same height as my columns 8ft. in height. my lot is only 120 sq. mtrs so I must maximize my space, when i told my panday to construct me a fence i told him, my abang for future provision of 2nd floor. i believe my column footing and columns are strong but not sure about the wall footing since its not a tie beam but a rail road track.

since a lintel beam would ride on the columns and on the wall fence, there will be a pressure applied would there be a possibility my wall footing would crack because it is not a tie beam?

also pressure from the slab that is attached to the lintel beam is expected. now I'm having second thoughts if my Wall footing could take the weight of my materials.

by the way the distance of my column to another column is 10ft.

i think i will have to abandon the 2nd flr project. the panday i got wasn't a pro. maraming flaw like the rail road track and the chb used.

Re: Building concrete fence

To strengthen your 4" thick fence wall, why don't you put a beam or " BIGA " on the top end of your concrete fence wherein this beam ( with its skeletal/metal structure or support be welded to the post or column) shall also be connected to your posts. 😉

The distance between your two post is just right and standard, and with regards to the rebars support on your wall footing, I think there is nothing to worry about it, both ends naman of the metal support( railroad track) " ay lusot lusotan sa " rebars of each column and that will serve as your tie beam underneath, I just hope that is what your kantero/contratista did.

By the way is the " second floor " you are talking about is the extention on the height of your concrete fence ? Are you thinking of putting additional hollow block on your fence to increase the height in the future or are we talking here of a fire wall for future house extentions, I'm just curious about the " second floor " thing. :p

Bro,

Beam's reinforcements is connected only to column and not on wall. Kung abang ang beam for future 2nd floor, kailangan naka-design ang column mo para dito.

Re: Building concrete fence

pag naghukay po para sa poste ng bahay or ng bakod just make it sure na nakita n yung natural grade ng lupa then hukay pa po ng at least 30cm deep from the natural grade , kung maputik naman pero nakita n yung natural grade ng soil lagyan ng grava .

Mga sir good day po..Hingi lng po sana aq ng idea regarding s pagppabakod.. ung lot q po kc mababa xa ng mga 500mm from the road.. mga gaano po kya ang lalim ng hukay for footing ng column? Ang height po ng wall q e 1.5m from the road level.. pwede ko po b pagsamahin ung footing ng column q sa footing ng wall prang strap beam.. tas doon q n lng ipatong ung chb?then lagay po qng biga after 3 layer ng chb.. tama lng po b un? before aq magtambak? Salamat po..
