During olden times, before the 70s or maybe 80s wood were used for top cords, trusses and purlins but since the use of wood has become expensive, so expensive, architects and designers have shifted into using metal, though some houses now a days still uses wood specially in the provinces where they are still very much available but in the cities and subdivisions in the metropolis and nearby provinces contractors, architects and designers opted in using angle bars
for trusses and c purlins where the roofing will be screwed. And for some uncomplicated beams, GI pipes welded together are also being used as substitute.

And with the shift of metal from wood, homeowners were spared of termite infestations 😮 on their roofing system and its easier to construct and are readily available. :p 😉 :rolleyes:
