don't know if this is the right place to post this.. but, is there someone here who can share their ideas on how to do this? do i still have use steel frames for walls and ceiling? or i can just simply fasten the walls and ceiling directly on the container? i'm planning to use hardiflex for both walls and ceiling, or maybe there is something better for this?

might have a project involving this one soon.. thanks..

I can think of a few downsides if you fasten the walls directly to the container:
1. Container's metal is much harder than steel frames. I don't think the gypsum screws or ficem screws can penetrate it. You may have to drill pilot holes. An extra step.
2. the container walls might not be straight (or not square). Your walls won't be straight, too.
3. no space for wire conduits

If its my project I'd go for steel frames.

Of course you still have to seal/prime/paint the container to prevent it from rusting. The metal experts here can tell you more about that.

i'd go for steel frames to, can you imagine, if you do get to screw directly to the container that hole will serve as a way for water to seep in and destroy the boards inside. plus i second the motion, the walls might not be straight.

Re: converting container van into an office

please include details of logistics, im thinking of putting up a few container in our tanay property and making it like small rooms connected to a main area. baka there will be a big difference din since the property is high up in the mountains but para lang sa idea.

thanks thanks

Re: converting container van into an office

Sorry admin for this but a little off topic here,

Hey bro ernie_serrano,

Where in Tanay is your property, that is where I grew up and all my relatives sa mother side are all there.
But now I live in Baras coz my parents ( RIP ) bought properties here and made it into a poultry farm, of course that was then but now I have converted it into a private tropical garden ( some sort of ). hehehehe

hala, na off topic na talaga tayo. there is a small house sa property, we use it only for storage ng gamit when we go there and for eating. most of the time we are wondering around the place exploring. or climbing up the hill and setting a telescope. at night naman the place turns into a camping ground, sometimes there would be 4 ,5 or even 6 cars of family members that would sched an overnight camping.

Re: converting container van into an office

insulated two 40ft container vans for a project last year. yung isa may metal frame and gypsum board gamit and the other nagtitipid so ginawa ko nirivet ko yung hardiflex sa wall no more metal frame the fiberglass ko yung rivet holes sa labas so far satisfied naman yung ginawan ko and malaki ang natipid nya.

Re: converting container van into an office

pictures naman dyan joaquin.. how do u transport the container office? parang ganda kasi gumawa but the mobility part is the big question. ahh.. minsan pala il take a picture of the space i made for my wife, or the space i assembled for my wife. we call it her sawing room for her hobby naman na tahi, while i stay in my workshop naman for my wood hobby.

anyways, the unit came from japan and how i wish i can get 10 more of this. its so easy to assemble. a days worth of work, not including the foundation :superhero2:
