thanks

Re: fixing faucet

H Interruptedz. Regarding your query on installing/replacing faucets, i'm guessing that the hole in the wall (coupling or elbow) where you install the faucet is a GI fitting and your faucet is non-plastic because you have difficulty in making a leak free seal. Plastic faucets on PVC fittings usually don't have that problem as the thread clearances are very small.

Just add on more layers of Teflon tape until you find the right thickness that will provide a correctly positioned faucet with a watertight seal.

Btw, you can check if the fitting already has a "loose thread" by poking your index finger into the hole and feeling the internal threads of the fitting. If it's still uniformly threaded then no problem. If it's not, then you might be able get away with a thicker layer of Teflon tape.

I hope this helps.

Re: fixing faucet

Hi there bro,

WOW, if you plan to change that busted elbow with the loose thread where you insert your faucet, then be ready for some tough work. You will have to do some chiseling on that portion, particularly around it and perhaps a foot or less going down to expose some portion of the pvc to be able to bent it slightly forwards towards you to give you space while trying to figure out how to go about replacing that elbow.

I suppose that pvc elbow has been applied with pvc solvent so it will not be easy to take it off.

Here are options that I can think of, 1st, is simply cut off the pvc pipe just right under the elbow where it is inserted by a hacksaw blade or a dremel circular cutting blade then replace with a new elbow with thread, or...... 2nd, replace/connect first with a female coupling with a male thread on other end, then on that threaded portion, replace a new elbow, may I suggest instead of using a pvc elbow, use a stainless steel or a GI elbow, of course threaded on both ends so you won't have anymore problem with loose threads ever. Then its done, let the pvc solvent dry completely on all pvc connections and apply thread tape or teflon tapes on all threaded part to avoid leakage, then position it back snugly on the concrete then start applying mortar to encase the repaired pvc and the elbow. DON'T FORGET to temporarily cover the opening of the elbow with a piece of plastic or cloth para hindi pasukan ng mortar yung opening ng elbow where you will insert or fix your faucet.

HOPE this helps and GOOD LUCK :goodluck:

OH thanks for your tip regarding CNC, at least we know who to approach regarding this getting famous CUTTING DEVICE with the use of the right plasma cutter !!! :groupwave:

Re: fixing faucet

Yes bro, I am trying to visualize the elbow na may sira, is it the elbow that is both females, meaning one end with no thread and the other end with a thread inside ? Pag pinutol mo yung pvc pipe, no threading is necessary, you will just buy a new elbow, both females, one end with no thread and the other end with an inside thread for your faucet. 😉

PVC solvent (sealant) is what you apply to the end part of your pvc pipe and your coupling or an elbow, it seals tight the connection and prevents water leakage. You can buy this solvent (sealant) from any ordinary hardware store, na sa maliit na lata lang yan. The thread tape or teflon tape as we know it here is used only on threaded part of a coupling or the threaded part of the faucet before you start inserting it sa female elbow with inside thread, likewise it will prevent water leakage. 😎

Re: fixing faucet

Pag hardened na yung epoxy, attach the nipple using teflon.

Once that is done, yung gripo will attach to the nipple.

Hindi kasing gwapo pero hindi ka na magtitibag ng tiles at concrete.

Just...[COLOR="Red"]DRILL IT!
