Re: hardiflex ceiling

in the first place, hardilfex and the like aren't really pleasing to the eyes.

we use it for the intended purpose...non rotting sturdy material.

secondary na lang ang aesthetics.

now it is best to follow the manufacturer's recommendation.

use the hardiflex nail as first...seoond is gypsm screws.

if you use gypsym screws, you will need a drill driver.

basically it can be fastened with brad nails.

it just isnt right.

Re: hardiflex ceiling

if you insist on using brad nails since you have it...i therefore recommend to divide the whole sheet into eight 24" x 24" piece..that way, you curb the weight of the whole...you can even leave a 3-5mm gap in between edges for aesthetics with no need to putty or apply fiberglass tape.

word of caution if you use your nailer to fasten these hardiflex: you can damage prematurely the "hammer" inside the nailer..(i forgot its name kasi hehe) if the brads will hit a relatively hard object for a longer period of time.

yes..fibercement boards are a little harder than plywood.

Re: hardiflex ceiling

thanks for the prompt reply sirs... i will be using an air nailer with 1 inch nail to fasten it onto the timber frame.. for boysen gypsum joint compound, what kind of tape should i use? mesh tape or the ordinary paper tape? or is there a better joint compound for this? and if ordinary paper tape is to be used, am i suppose to put a thin layer of the compound first for the paper tape to adhere then a second layer of the compound to hide the tape? thank you

Air nailer is ok (i'm sure not a brad nail...no heads) I prefer to use the mesh tape then the compound.then sand....dirty job.:(
