lagay ko lang po dito since i dont know which forum ilagay
i have no experience sa construction or anything like that
plan ko po gamitin is gi pipes 2" yung manipis lang to make this structure (any suggestion welcome)
and plan ko to have them welded to look like this
and lagyan po sana ng roof made of poly carbonate para magaan lang and matibay
i am also considering to use one of these...
thanks
Re: Help sa planned parking for 2 vehicles... (engineers needed... help!)
my two car garage was built just very recently ( 4 months ago)..i spent around 30K for the built (materials and labor) and i made use of the following materials:
1. corrugated GI roof (APO)
2. 4" schedule 40 pipes for the posts (5 posts)
3. angle bars for the truss and beams
4. double sided 10mm aluminium foil insulator
5. wire screen to protect the insulator from pests and birds and to prevent deterioration
6. paint (primer plus the cool baguio green boysen)
7. prepainted GI sheet and bended for the gutter
8. 1 truck (ELF) for the garage elevation
9. 12 bags of cement
30K sounds inadequate for the build but i made it!!!
its just that i still cant upload photos for you to see. but i will try soon.
at first i thought of just a simple car port but in the end i ended up building something to withstand the heavy downpour during the wet season..

Re: Help sa planned parking for 2 vehicles... (engineers needed... help!)
was also considering one of these before but I'm not sure how it would perform during strong winds. You can fasten the aluminum structure but I'm worried of matibay and kung may nabibiling replacement yung canvass kapag nasira.
Re: Help sa planned parking for 2 vehicles... (engineers needed... help!)
I just replace the canvass in our two car garage over the weekend. It cost me around 4k for the canvass I bought in gandara. the canvass was customized to exactly fit the structural of our garage. it measures 211x187 inches.
I think its the 3rd time I replaces it. It will last for about 4 years before the canvass get brittle and crack.

HI there targa,
Bro, you confuse me a bit with your post. you said you are skeptic on the one you saw and being sold at sulit, well that kind of tent is not really permanent, its for temporary use only that is why it was made with light materials which can easily be dismantled and yet you prefer for your GI pipes posts to be "manipis" and will be using polycarbonate as its roofing, hah, this one is quite expensive, last time I asked its price per sheet of 4' x 8' was already more or less 2K, wow grabe presyo nuon !!! :yuk:
May I suggest a permanent or semi permanent structure for your two car garage,
1.) Yes the 2" GI pipes will do, just get the thicker gauge, I think its gauge 26, but if you can find a thicker gauge at junk shops selling pipes so much the better. Maybe you will need 3 pieces of that GI pipes of full length OF 20 ft , then cut them in half which will give you now 6 pieces of 10 ft long per piece. These 6 pieces pipes will be your posts.
2.) At the base of your pipes you can have it welded with some metal plates of about 6" X 6" X 1/4" thickness, tapos pa butasan mo ang four corners ng plate sa machine shop for fastening bolts which will be permanently embedded sa concrete.
3.) For the upper portion may I suggest too using 3/4" to 1" GI pipes to for your trusses and center beams, just have someone make a design on how it will be fabricated and welded. I suggested GI pipes para hindi agad mag rust compared to using angle bars or C-Purlins or rectangular tubings, it will post rust problems in the near future kasi.
4.) For your roofing try using corrugated galvalum instead of the polycarbonate sheetings. The galvalum roofing will give you more shades for your cars specially during hot summers, sunlight will not penetrate the galvalum compared to the polycarb. You can get the thinner gauge if you want them to be lighter. What's inportant here is that your post and your roofing skeletons are sturdy enough to withstand heavy downpours and specially strong winds during typhoon seasons. :rain::badday: OH do try making your roofing design DOS AGUAS, on the left and right side.
May I suggest too that during the process of constructions, try to be hands-on all the way to check and control material expenses and labor if you are gonna hire some people.
Bro, hope this helps and gives you an idea or picture on how your proposed two car garage will come to reality. HEHEHEHE, of course FUNDS/BUDGET is the most important here.

Re: Help sa planned parking for 2 vehicles... (engineers needed... help!)
kung permanent
Gi pipe as column is fine.
use angle bars as trusses+rafters, all welded
Re: Help sa planned parking for 2 vehicles... (engineers needed... help!)
try to consider the space truss design...ganda and unique!
kahit 1 inch dia. pipe ay pwede...
Re: Help sa planned parking for 2 vehicles... (engineers needed... help!)
use GI pipe and not BI......para mas matagal bago kalawangin
Re: Help sa planned parking for 2 vehicles... (engineers needed... help!)
try to consider yung mga kilo bakal u can get it fro 36 peros per kilo to 40 peso big saving mga 40% up. yun lang nga mga under size ang haba

buhayin ko lang yung topic. how do you cover the top of the pipe?
thanks
Re: Help sa planned parking for 2 vehicles... (engineers needed... help!)
Bro, you can cover the top end of your GI pipes by buying some 1/8" steel plates from a junk shop then shape to circles the size of your pipes or a bit larger in circumference then have them welded on top or like what you said, you may also fill the pipes with concrete/mortar.
Hope this helps ! 😉 🙂

Re: Help sa planned parking for 2 vehicles... (engineers needed... help!)
thanks sa reply sir. initially was thinking also of covering the top with another plate.

Kapag bago, tight fit pa sya pero after many cycles of heating and cooling, microscopic gaps between the metal and grout will form.
