Hi Guys,

I need info re materials for kitchen counter tops. What are the alternative materials to granite or marble. I believe meron nang mga synthetic materials pero di ko alam kung saan nabibibili, made to order ba ito based sa sukat ng counter top mo?

Re: Kitchen Counter Top Materials

The only countertop material I have experienced using is a formica factory laminated on high quality marine plywood. These were available in sizes of 2 feet by 8 feet, which I bought from San Jose Builders.

Re: Kitchen Counter Top Materials

Hi,

The ranges of counter top available are;

Lowest priced - Laminated Formica, Honeycombed Core Top
Mid Priced - Reconstituted Stone, Acrylic Top, Man made Marble
Top Range - Natural Stone.

Josol Home Decor Improvement Center in Legaspi St., Maybunga, Pasig would be able to help you out.

Hope this helps.

Re: Kitchen Counter Top Materials

Are you referring to corian counter tops? There is a local variety available in the various home depots.

Hi!

Check out granite tiles instead granite slabs. Much cheaper and looks the same. just need a good tile setter to do the job.

Re: Kitchen Counter Top Materials

i had the same dilemma when choosing tops on a price-benefit basis.

i ended up with the granite slab. costs around 5,000 per slab + 2,500 for the installer. if you know somebody who can install, the labor can further be reduced. it took them only 4 days to install 3 slabs complete with the edges and backsplashes

Re: Kitchen Counter Top Materials

There is no specific size for granite slabs, common sizes varies from .60x.60 up to .60x3.0m.

Re: Kitchen Counter Top Materials

I like granite slabs myself. Had it installed in two kitchen counters.

They do not come in standard sizes. I guess they just cut the largest slabs depending on size of the quarry. You just have to measure your countertop then get the smallest slab that will fit.

When I did my kitchen, the slab I got had some extra so I was able to have a small sink on my island made of granite.
