Yes Sir.

Ang paunti-unti pag pinagsama marami na rin.

Haven't had the time but I still want to put up a USB "charging station" for our USB gadgets in addition to the free light it provides.

A little savings is better than no savings.

Add to that the "hidden" advantages of solar power like lower pollution from fossil fuel.

Re: LED Lighting System

Nice. I just hope na tumagal ang solar panel nila para mabawi naman yun cost of investment.

Like for Hiking/ Camping?

With the lessons I am learning by hands-on experience, sulit na yung investment.

If you compute the power equivalent (in our case in Pampanga, around 10 pesos per kilowatt-hour), it has to produce 138KWH or 138,000 watt-hours or since it supplies 2watts, it has to run
69,000 hours. Divided by 8hours per day = 23 years.

Medyo malabo.

I apologize if I misled our readers that this or any other solar power solution is a viable replacement for our present power consumption.

Natuwa lang ako sa galing ng technology, much like how we spend thousands on our smart phones and tablets. Kelan kaya mababawi ang investment dun?

Secondly by patronizing solar or any new technology for that matter, we encourage these manufacturers to keep on producing until such time that solar will be more economical than our traditional sources.

Yes IMHO very suitable sya sa outdoors where no regular power is available. You just need to protect the panel during travel since it is made of glass.

Re: LED Lighting System

Can LED lamps be wired with a dimmer switch?

I have started replacing my CFL pinlights with LED lamps. Whenever one ges out, I screw on an LED. Sometimes, I need to change from the pin-type socket into a screw-type socket. No big deal. We're all handy(wo)men.

But in my Home Theater, I have eight 220V halogen lamps in the ceiling wired to a dimmer switch. Can I change these lamps into LEDS and retain the dimmer?

Logic tells me Yes but I assume there's some built-in stepdown transformer in these LED lamps and I'm not sure if these would conflict with the dimmer switch.

Yes they should dim since LEDs are analog and not digital devices. They might dim too quickly however compared to halogen bulbs.

A quick way is to tap a parallel wire to your existing system and attach an LED bulb and play with the dimmer.

No sense in purchasing a new dimmer outright if the existing "infrastructure" will work.

LED strip sa CDR King comes in 1 roll of 5 meters 12volts - P680.00

You can cut a 1 foot strip pero you need provide its own power supply na siguro will cost P100 pataas from your electronics parts supply shop. Wag sa mall dahil mahal dun.

I advise against sa dresser kasi mahina lang sya (4.8 watts for the whole 5meters) at medyo nakakasilaw yung individual LED bulbs. Mas maganda yung LED tube nila worth P480 for your application. Mas diffused yung light

ok I'll take a look at that. pero sa LED tube na 480php, ( http://www.cdrking.com/index.php?mod=products&type=view&sid=15489&main=167 (> i'm pretty sure this is what you meant) hindi ako sure kung ano ang size but I would prefer a size not more than 1ft, i meant the length. and it's a bit pricey, i know in the long run I could save more because of it's efficiency.

Re: LED Lighting System

Got the LED light strip from CDRKing, too. But the ones I got had its own power supply already so it's plug and play. Can't recall the exact price, though.

They actually had it in white, red, and green. Too bad, I preferred blue. But, perhaps, I can put some blue filter on it.

Yes the whole 5 meters has one power supply. The question pertains to 1 foot only so that will require another power supply.

I bought white and you can get any color using a Sharpie permanent marker from National bookstore. I already tried blue, red and green.

No data on the durability of the color yet, but that is what makes DIY exciting.
