Ha-ha! That's the first time I heard about Sharpie as color filter.

Yup. Pentel Pen sana kasi ito yung brand nung kabataan namin. Lately I observed Sharpie seems to be of better quality.
Anyway, your favorite brand will do as well. The worst that can happen is that the color will fade and the LEDs will be back to white.
I found this LED coloring trick in Instructables.com

Can LED lamps be wired with a dimmer switch?
I have started replacing my CFL pinlights with LED lamps. Whenever one ges out, I screw on an LED. Sometimes, I need to change from the pin-type socket into a screw-type socket. No big deal. We're all handy(wo)men.
But in my Home Theater, I have eight 220V halogen lamps in the ceiling wired to a dimmer switch. Can I change these lamps into LEDS and retain the dimmer?
Logic tells me Yes but I assume there's some built-in stepdown transformer in these LED lamps and I'm not sure if these would conflict with the dimmer switch.
Dimming an LED involves varying the duty cycle (on-time vs off-time) of the LED driver. I think conventional light dimmer does not use a PWM (Pulse-Width-Modulator) to vary the brightness. LED driver employs PWM circuit for this purpose.

Yes PWM is the ideal method of reducing the light output of LEDs. That will require a total retrofit of the existing halogen setup.
However, LEDs do obey Ohms Law of V=IR and logically, varying any of these parameters will vary the output.
Without any PWM, you can try it with an ordinary LED. drive it using a 3volt battery and a 1.5volt battery. There is a significant change in output but it still works.
Flourescent lamps do not behave this way however because they require a certain voltage to "fire up". CFLs have greater tolerances for low voltages.

Correct sir. But there are already LEDs in the market right now that are "dimmable" using existing dimmer switch.

Hi there Nelson De Leon... You are right sir. There are some dimmable led's that are currently available in the market. But as for the MR16 type or cup bulb type LED lamp, I think there is none yet in the market. If meron naman sobrang mahal naman.
Re: LED Lighting System
Welcome to the forum bro..matagal na ba yung cdrking led bulb mo?balak ko rin subukan medyo duda lang ako sa kalidad, yung branded kasi nasa 4 to 500 yata..
I have tried CDRKING LED lights (3 Watts), after 3 months sira na, they replaced it but the total warranty will always be 1 year and maybe unlimited replacement within the 1 year original warranty period.

Which CDRKing LED lights did you try? The individual "bulb" or the strip lights?
I have yet to install the two strips I got from CDRKing and now am worried if I should bother. I'd hate to go through an installation that would need reinstallation every few months. I thought LED lights were nearly invincible!

the individual bulb, but I still want to buy from them, I think they are all on the same boat since the bulb has several LED in series inside.
I have imported LED bulbs before and all got busted within 6 months.
Re: LED Lighting System
So far OK pa naman installation ko.
I acquired 20pcs 3W MR16 220v from Soler store (starlux), 1yr warranty @ 350Php per piece 2.5 years ago. 16 installed at subdn clubhouse main lobby and 4 on our ceiling, operating for about 4.5 hrs per day. All working fine to date.
I have another 2pcs 3W MR16 12V currently on trial, acquired @210php , Dec 2012 from a Raon store ( near DEECO) selling only LEDS.
just to share...

I also got a LED strip from CDRKing the waterproof kind. You might want to:
1. Use the supplied power supply or a regulated 12 volts. Ordinary AC/DC adaptors sometimes provide up to 15volts. A multitester is a nice tool to have around.
2. Tape them onto a metal frame or metal surface for better heat transfer (it comes with its own double sided tape, 3M if you notice)
3. Test them first while coiled for 24 hours continuously tol see if any LEDs fail
CDRKing has its own share of poorly made products. This one seems to be of good build quality.
As to the LED light bulbs, you will notice several designs even in the same wattage. In case of failure, I would exchange it with a different design of the same wattage.
LEDs perform well in constant voltage and good heat sinking like flashlights and our cellphones.
Using them with power from the electric company exposes them to varying conditions. Even here in Pampanga, we have 2 power companies - Sfelapco and Pelco 1, both supplying power differently.

Agree with this one.
I bought the 9w led tube and 5w down lights, the 9w tube still works, usage is about 5 hours a day 5 days a week, now in its 3rd month.
Re: LED Lighting System
Update on the CDR King LED Strip (waterproof):
1. Got a couple of segments failing to light
2. Power supply already busted in less than a month use
3. Using a diffuser, LEDs show not uniform output - may dim, may bright
Pang katuwaan pwede pero for long term use, find some other

Re: LED Lighting System
Ako rin, bad experience.
I put one strip at the back of the room, not glued yet, just laid on the floor to test it. Niwanan kong naka-on overnight. Next day it's dead.
I have another unused one and now I don't know if I still want to use it. I don't want to glue it only to have to remove it later. Sayang, wala nang warranty.
Re: LED Lighting System
Its hard to imagine the LEDs failing so soon.
I have a feeling its the power supply that's going kaput.
