Do you guys have feedback using PVC doors + jambs with light metal frames for interior partitions? I'm remodeling an apartment unit, with 10 doors and a lot of internal partitions so I'm using metal studs for framing (cheaper, easier, cleaner).

The doors are the problem. I want to use pvc doors and jambs, and fix them directly on the metal studs. Kakayanin kaya ng jamba ng PVC? I see metal jambs available, and they're very convenient. But they will double the cost of the doors (1500-1800 lang pvc door with jamb vs steel jamb +- 1800).

Ultimately the steel jamb will last longer, but I need to ROI in a relatively short time.

thanks!

Re: metal framed partition walls

PVC for CR use might be ok, but not sure for main door use. The ones I've seen aren't that well made. For main door use, better make sure of the quality, especially for rental aprtments since they tend to get abused.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Re: metal framed partition walls

bro this might help.

http://www.finehomebuilding.com/how-to/articles/anatomy-stud-framed-wall.aspx

this is originally for wood framing construction but most steel framers use wood framing principles. so weather pvc or steel hamba, as long as those construction methods are used.

and i think ill go with bigfoot2 with using beefier doors, pvc tends to break easier, especially on heavy traffic doors like toilets. our office toilet pvc door broke with in a year with the door knob repetitively hitting the wall.

Re: metal framed partition walls

Thanks guys, I think I'll go for wood jamba and door. Durability aside, there seems to be a lot of gotchas fixing pvc jamba to steel studs. Anyway I found some HDF doors that will fit the budget. Pondado na so it's not a big deal to spray on a topcoat.
