I'm thinking of creating a Modular Pod Homes using light gauge steel framing structures similar to Container house that can be structurally assemble on site.

Any suggestion or idea of what company aside from Jea maxx, Phil Steel, Puyat steel etc...that offer a good and reasonable price. Cladding and walling can be corrugated, rib type or even fibre cement.:thanks:

FLEXBOARD, w/c is owned by ETERTON sells 3/4" or 18mm boards w/c can be used as floor and wall substrate for installations like wooden planks and wall panelling. Their kind of FICEMBOARD can with stand high moisture and heat on account of good fiber core composition w/c does not retain moisture or water. You may reach them at 5327021 to 27 or visit their office at 725 F. Blumentrit Extension Hulo, Mandaluyong City. Hope this helps!

Sometime in the 80's an enterprising Filipino came up with the idea of "containerized" housing using shipping containers and all. I guess his idea was used more on modular offices than real housing application. I have seen home pods in the past 3 years being featured in Europe, Australia and the US. Here in this country what we have to look out for is the rust or metal oxidation problem prevalent in our climate. You need a good metal frame supplier who understands the long term protection you need and improve their coatings technology be it zinc coating or anodizing. With a strong substrate for your wall or floors you now have a wide variety of treatment selections that can warm or make your POD comfy. Good luck on your housing plan.:construction::goodluck:

Re: Modular Pod Homes

I guess if your going to use metal studs for the structural components of the house better go for the bigger more reputable companies. Jea seems to lead the metal framing industry localy, although medyo mahal nga. Imho its better to assemble steel framed walls on site, mas tipid sa transpo expense. With the right plans you could make a small house with minimal tools, labor & time.

I'm planning to bulid 3m x 7m light gauge steel frame Modular Pod. My idea is modern "Bahay Kubo" that can be assemble easily on the site. I think some company like jea and philsteel offered this kind of services. Sila na ang mag cut according to your plan.:thanks:

Re: Modular Pod Homes

@ ocanursjr,

I just hope the place or area you are planning to build or construct your modular pod house project is not a flooded prone area or else you will end up having those stud frames rusting away.

Probably you can do some research on the newly proposed housing schemes now, "House on Stilts" as suggested by Arch. Jun Palafox or by VASBUILT, maybe you can incorporate your plans with this scheme, pang laban or iwas daw sa baha, the main house flooring is 8' or 10' above the ground. :agree: 😉

Well times have changed and for sure we will experience more of this flooding since our creeks, rivers and lakes have become dumping sites of human trash plus the fact that they are already silted. 😮

Glad to know that your from the same area. At least i will get to see this in action if ever you pursue it. Totoo na mahirap kumbinsihin ang kapwa Pinoy pagdating sa Pinoy tech products but this is timely and cost effective considering the average Pinoy's housing plight. Kung nakakapagtiyaga silang tumira sa kakarampot na kwarto or apartment na kasinlaki ng kusina at luma pa eh b'at naman di sila makaka-afford ng Pod housing.I think you just have to find your niche and go build that market together with your vision. The only ones that will discourage you are the skeptics but don't mind them. Nothing stops a visionary whose heart is for the greater good of many.:attack::2thumbsup:

How do you think will they stand the test of the elements here in the Philippines? Kaya ba nya ang malakas na hangin at ulan natin? What is the threshold of the frame and up to how many levels (2 or 3 floors) can a single structure hold? How do we strengthen the frame against mild tremors or low intensity earthquake lalo na tayo na taga Marikina?:):detective:

How about an I-beam steel? As shown in the photos. Any suggestion Ka Willy or anyone here in PHM.:)It can be costly though...but safety is our concern.
