Re: Modular Pod Homes
Yes the type of construction using these steel frames may be interesting and new here but still I am very skeptic about this in terms of longevity , it is still the rust build up on those frames that is bothering me specially now a days that Metro Manila and the neighboring provinces are experiencing flooding. 🙁 Maybe these will just be good only for interior partitions which will reduce loads on walls and flooring.
Maybe others can give their 2 cents worth of ideas !!!!!!!!!! 😉

Re: Modular Pod Homes
Honestly mga Ka PHM I'm listening to all your opinion. Long or short term is important. Remember the ideas of using an I or H galvanize steel frames for structural support. Any suggestion or ideas are welcome.:thanks:
Re: Modular Pod Homes
How about wooden modular pod?
Re: Modular Pod Homes
Nice topic mga brothers. I think these light steel frame houses are very good and very cost efficient. It's a good alternative to wood and chb houses and almost comparable to evg 3d panel system. Kaya Lang knowing Filipinos they want their precious homes to
Sat a lifetime kaya medyo hard to make us shift to newer techs. Would you believe I have some clients that still won't use PVC doors for bathrooms kasi daw just in case may intruder eh wala na silbi yung pinto????
Pero ako personally if I have the money(well not enough money) I would like to try this out. Siguro you would notice sa mga squatter areas Kung paano nila ginawa mga bahay nila. I'm amazed and surprised sa lakas ng loob nila na minsan tagpi tagpi Lang and using 2x2 Lang eh multiple level pa hehe.
Good thing about this tech is it's not that expensive so you can readily replace, renovate , alter or even rebuild from scratch after several years of use di ba. Basta good interlocking design ok na ok Ito. Just sharing my opinion. Thanks
Re: Modular Pod Homes
Thanks @ Ka ricky:)
It's truly enlightening yung mga sinabi mo. Majority doesn't want any changes. Hindi nila alam na that changes is part of progress.
I was watching a documentary sometime ago. Mga 2008 yata yun. The cost of building a light guage steel structure with fibre cement board cost around under 3,000 Php per sq.m. Of course mas mahal na ngayon ito compared 4 years ago. Ka ernie can share his ideas with the cost of his light steel gauge house.
Then I wasn't interested using light gauge steel frames. Maganda kinalabasan talaga, its very cost efficient.:thanks:
Re: Modular Pod Homes
You are welcome brader,
This reminds me na meron pala fiber cement board na very durable 19mm thickness nay ginamit ng ISA client for his ceiling. Ficem board brand yata. Sobra ang tibay kasi after attaching the acoustic board eh nagbago isip nya for light placements kaya ayun we had to peel it off. Akala ko masisira yun ficem board pero sabi ng owner sige Lang, naglambitin kami 4 just to peel off the polyester board , surprisingly Hindi man Lang nadamage yung cement board. So I guess pwede Ito for exterior use.
Re: Modular Pod Homes
Some countries are using fibre cement board as exterior painted and screw over the light steel frames. I heard they are also using weather board subtitute to expensive timber cladding.
I'll take note of that ficem board brand. Thanks @ Ka ricky:)
Re: Modular Pod Homes
hi ricky, are you sure its 19mm cement board?? kasi that would be too heavy for ceiling, plus a very impractical one. for me kasi, the point of using light steel frame is to , yes, lighten the load, i dont see why one would use light steel frame and load it up with a 19mm thick ficem board.
i think FICEM is a generic term for the boards, is a short cut for FIBER CEMENT BOARD, usual brands are the Hardiflex, Sierra, Smart, Elephant ect.
surprisingly, the amount mentioned 4 years ago na 3thou plus has more than tripled now. i cant build a decent looking unit for for less than 10k per sq. 2 years ago we built a 60sq.m house for this poor family in montalban, i built it Slab on fill, funded by a relative nila that lives sa states, we cost it at 600k, and finished it in a bit less than 3 months, all in all the unit costs them 550k, so after 3 months i earned 50k from that project.
its a small profit but the smiles you get after you turn over the unit is well worth more than any amount you can say. they have been living in make shift tagpi tagpi house and for them to move to a decent house with 3 bedrooms and a bath with shower and a toilet that has its own flush is a step towards a good future for their children

Re: Modular Pod Homes
@ Ka ernie, so it's true you can build using a light gauge steel framing and fibre cement board under 3,000Php per Sq.m 4 years ago. As I mentioned, price has doubled or tripled with the present market price. 10,000 per Sq.m isn't bad at all, its still affordable though now a days.
That's why Habitat for Humanity are concentrating with their own CIB or Concrete Interlocking Blocks substitute to CHB because it's more cost efficient.
@ Ka ricky, I don't know kung available sa atin yung rough paint na pag pininta mo parang rendered ang dating ng fibre cement board.:)
Re: Modular Pod Homes
^bro Ernie, yes it's 19mm, 3/4" thick sya talaga. Nagulat din kami kasi overkill. It's in a condo unit pa ha na 200sq.m. Pero buti na nga Lang ficem board gamit nay Kung Hindi, sa pagtanggal namin ng acoustic Hindi kaya ma survive Kung plywood or gypsum Lang. ask ko again yung foreman ano brand hehehe. I ask him kasi before ano brand and sabi nay ficem brand lol. T*nga ko hehe. And what's worst with it is they drilled 2" holes over that board for better absorption, kakahinayang.
Ka oca, anong paint yon? For cement board pwede na elastomeric paints .
Doon sa tinitirhan ko Hindi pa ako experienced non sinaraduhan ko yun porch and instead of using light steel frames with cement board eh I opted to use 2x2 lumber and GI sheet painted with epoxy primer and QDE . 7yrs na din and still ok pa.

@ Ka ricky di ko alam kung what kind of paint is that?
Pag usapan natin yung Modular Transportable easy to assembled Pod homes.:thanks:
