Going against most of the advice I've been given, I have decided to go with Coco Lumber for most of the material for my house. Think of it as an expensive experiment and I just love the idea of using cheap wood to create something nice. Expenses to follow.
Uploading photos in this forum is a pain!
waiting for your photos sir (and expenses too)... id agree that coco is cheap but its not at all straight and hard to finish coz its fibrous... nevertheless im curious how it turned out in your project. I hope its durable enough to withstand the harsh elements too! Welcome to PHM sir!
@ roofie, looking forward for you to share how you and your workers is able to identify good quality coco lumber and the ways (e.g. treatment) to protect the lumber from wood boring insects ... cheers
Boo!
how to tell if the coco lumber being sold is good quality? i was told that coco lumber can actually be a very strong wood if the coconut tree the lumber was taken from was 50 (or 75) years old.
i'd love to try this too. any update on your project? cost and materials used 🙂 an ofc photos! Cheers! Good luck on your experiment!

There are some coco lumber that are really hard - liliko ang de kwatrong pako. The problem is the whole tree will not produce wood of the same hardness. There will parts that are hard, some not.
