Happy new year bros!
Dahil sa gastos at abala sa pagpapalit ng tiles sa solo bathroom namin, I'm thinking of just painting over them.
I've already watched several videos sa youtube pero their procedure require epoxy paint.
The upper part of the wall is painted with Sun & Rain and hindi naman nag mantsa kahit nababasa palagi.
Balak ko sana to use maybe a glossier version on the tiles.
May nakatry na ba sa inyo?
Thanks in advance for your expert advice.

Re: Paint over bathroom tiles
An acrylic elastomeric paint finish is not going to survive
the regular scrubbing and cleaning you are expected to
perform on your bathroom to keep it nice and clean. It'll
start to tear and peel eventually.
There's a reason we use glazed tile for places we want to
clean frequently and very thoroughly.
There are other issues, but that's the one that jumps out.

Re: Paint over bathroom tiles
With your words of wisdom, I sought further options for the discolored tiles.
I have tried all sorts of cleaning methods including Scotch Brite, assorted brushes, Clorox and even muriatic acid. Ayaw matanggal ng mantsa.
By some stroke of luck, I tried a knife and it worked!
Here are some pics to show the effectiveness of scraping using a knife.
What comes off is a hard substance (I suspect what they call limescale or calcium deposit) na parang tartar sa ngipin.
Duing wet scrubbing, which we usually do when we clean our toilets, the deposit seems to be protected or lubricated by some soapy/waxy substance.
I found that a dry method is much more effective. Towards the end of my cleaning I used those sanding blocks with a foam core. I bought one during a previous gypsum board installation.
I hope this post will help others puzzled by stubborn stains on bathroom tiles.

Re: Paint over bathroom tiles
Sir,
What we do is use a fine grit of sandpaper in scrubbing coupled with a cleanser.maybe 1000 grit is ok
So far ok naman but I'm not sure what will be the effect in the long run

I haven't personally tried this, but some people claim vinegar can also remove lime scales from bathroom tiles.
I'm a little wary about using abrasives. They might damage the tile glaze.

I do that on the sink and water closet maybe twice a year. Effective din naman so far. Kung meron pa better idea I'm always open.
In this case sa tiles, hindi umubra yan 1000 kaya nga impression ko nun and mantsa nasa loob na ng tiles.

I think muriatic acid is far stronger than vinegar and it had no effect. The calcium deposit is protected by some form of soap/wax.
I did have some success with vinegar on the bidet nozzle. I think it was purely calcium and not protected by wax/soap like on the shower tiles.

Ang galing ng suggestion mo bro. I found some demo sa youtube on a toilet bowl. I think it will be better than my original sandpaper and soap.
Thanks!

Re: Paint over bathroom tiles
Use scotch brite + rubbing compound. Use water to wet the scrub to make it easier to rub the tiles. This works but you're gonna break a sweat but the result will be satisfying. 🙂
Re: Paint over bathroom tiles
i used the same product (scouring stick bought from true value) on my toilet bowl to remove those toilet rings. unsuccessful 🙁

My own situation is a waxy buildup combined with hard water deposit. Yes, I scraped it while dry.
You mentioned using sand paper and failed on the rings in your toilet.
My own technique for this is use fine sandpaper maybe 1000 grit so as not to damage the glaze.
Lubricate with dish washing soap (Joy).
Use concentrated pressure on small areas using only index finger or side of the thumb.
You should notice that the sandpaper glides over the clean glaze and will "snag" on the mineral deposit.
I do this maybe twice a year.
