New PVC Doors in Waiting:

(Mods, if there is any similar thread like this, please lead me to that...)

I have a pending project, actually our bathroom doors. I'm planning to replace the old wooden doors and it's jambs with new decorative PVC ones. I have already purchased some of the said PVC doors, but I'm in a dilemma on how to install it, especially the included PVC jambs to the concrete opening.

Does anyone have an idea or knows how it's installed? I'm thinking of doing it myself... All ideas and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Pics of said doors and location to follow.

Thanks!

Re: PVC Door Installation - Need Advice

you need to remove the old wooden jambs for the pvc jambs to fit in.
its hard masonry work and you need to call for help.

the wooden jambs have nails embedded to it where the concrete can grip..its a lot of work i tell you..

better to install a pvc door fresh.

but that warning should not keep you from doing what you think is right.

go ahead! that will take around a day to remove the old jamb and install the pvc jambs...0.5 day for the plastering (palitada) around the perimeter of the jamb.

papakyaw mo na para di matagal work...a thousand bucks is the ceiling for that work..

ikaw na maglagay nung door.madali lang..screw driver lang kailangan mo..you dont even need a helper for the installation...maybe your swmbo..hehe

goodluck!

Re: PVC Door Installation - Need Advice

Thank you for your thoughts sir violaine, actually I had already removed old wooden jambs
before when I had our kitchen remodeled, not just door jambs but window jambs likewise.

A few years back I build an annex ''dirty kitchen'' for me wife with the assistance of a
kantero friend, to make the story short, I had him also install a pvc door/jamb for the
comfort room, what he did then was pour cement in the gap between the pvc jamb and the concrete opening. I was wondering then when I bought that pvc door/jamb from the hardware
they also gave me some sort of metal clips and they said its for the door jambs. Like what Ihave mentioned before, my kantero friend did not use the metal clips and just poured mixed
cement inside the gap of the pvc and the concrete opening.

Now with regards to my pending project, when I bought these two pvc door/jamb and had it
delivered, twas again with a box of thin metal clips to be used for the jamb installation .

What I would like to know is what really are these clips for and what is the real way to install
theses pvc door jambs. I would really like to know and prefer to install it myself.

Thanks again sir vioaine

Re: PVC Door Installation - Need Advice

You need to screw the metal clips sa loob ng door jamb kung saan sinesemento. It serve as a reinforcement.

Re: PVC Door Installation - Need Advice

Naku hindi ko na matatanggal yung jamba, malaki na ang masisira
wall tiles and concrete mouldings na kinabit ko.

Matibay na naman yung pvc door/jamd:p
