I got some WIP going on and started to finish it out. The material is made of plywood and some hardwood edging. Nothing odd and followed the usual method of burying the nails, covering stuff with putty, sanding, dusting etc...

I used boysen quick dry enamel white b600 for the finishing (and will use it for the rest of the build). I just did my first coat yesterday around 4-5PM and this morning around 4-5AM, the surface is still tacky! (so much for quick dry). Its been months since I last touched enamel paints and wood, but I don't recall having to wait more than this time for the paint to be dry to touch.

I don't think I applied a thick first layer because I can still see some of the wood surface getting through. As always, I use paint straight off the can, ie no reduction. As for the age of the paint, I think its around 6 months since I last used that 1/4 can - I don't think its expired. While applying by brush, I don't feel the paint dragging, ie just the right consistency and still the same as the day I bought it.

I could have left it outside for the sun to help in drying, but concerned that it might rain a bit (it did a couple of days ago). I just left it somewhere shaded and dry before leaving for the office a few hours ago.

Thanks for the reply bro rosy. I did mix it well a good 2 mins perhaps while scraping the bottom.

Apparently when I arrived home this afternoon at around 4PM it was already dry to touch but marring the finish is still easy. I'll leave it where it was for the rest of the night. I'll do the second coating tomorrow.

Hopefully we'd get a bit more heat from the sun tomorrow. It drizzled a bit this afternoon.

Mislabeling ata yang quick dry enamel na yan eh.. Ganyan din nangyari sa wip ko almost 1 day bago na dry. Binilad ko na lang sa araw para ma dry agad pero ganun parin almost 1 day bago na dry.

I was also wondering. In the next set of pieces that i painted using the same can, they were dry too touch in 4 hours. Could be the weather or the drying conditions?

The first didn't receive sunlight until the next days while the second set had the last few hours of sunlight in the afternoon.

Anyway i think I'm overthinking...
