We have a backyard that is about 2 feet higher than our house. I am planning to build a wall that is just high enough to prevent the soil in our backyard to erode back in our house.
I am thingking of digging a 1-2 feet trench and then pour concrete over that as the base for the wall then just put maybe 2-3 layers of hollow blocks for the wall. Do I really need to put rebars inside the hollow blocks or the cement inside the hollow blocks is already strong enough?
Can you give me any advice 🙂 Thanks
Yes you have to put rebars in your hollow blocks even though its a low wall, this will strengthen and stabilize your wall. Also don't forget to place rebars in your trench in a form similar to a ladder, this is where you will attach your vertical rebars.
By the way, how long will this wall be if I may ask ? Also see if you can apply plaster (palitada) on your wall to minimize water absorption.
Cheers 🙂
