Re: Roof Truss plan

HI there rpga4433,

I'm not an architect nor a contractor nor and engineer but in some ways or another had the chance to see them perform their expertise or know how and have tried absorbing some of their ways in building or designing simple houses which I applied on my own.

Now IMHO, there is no standard rule to follow on spacing of rafters or the number needed to be used. It will still depend on the overall length of your ridge board or center beam. Here we are only talking of gabled roofing or in other words "Dos Aguas" roofing style.

Rafters can be spaced at 0.60cm, 0.90cm, or 100cm, center to center or even more like what I said depending on the overall length of the center beam. I am saying this because a few years back I renovated my annex dirty kitchen, changed all the wooden posts, beams, rafters, basta anything that is wood on the roofing section. For my center beam, I welded some GI PIPES with alternating diagonal and vertical pipes in the middle portion( between two lengths of GI pipes ) as supports and then used rectangular tubings as my trusses, the full length of 2" X 6" X 20' and then for the rafters I used again tubulars 2" X 4" , spaced at about 0.60cm, now this will depend also on the length of your galvanize roofing.

I hope this will give you a picture or an IDEA 💡 on your roofing plan, and on my part I don't really follow a set plan, its more of instinct and common sense, but then may be lets wait for other members here who are contractors and architects to give their views on your inquiry.

CHEERS and good luck on your future project . :goodluck: :superhero2:

better have it design by the license engineer, anyway you're needing them for the application of building permit. BTW the dimensions/sizes and spacing of the rafter or truss members are acquired by design analysis & computations, considering: the roofing materials to be used, the Location of Building. span & many others.

Re: Roof Truss plan

Hi

Roofs are design based on dead load(material) and live load, like wind, typhoon, and rain. That includes the look you want, like the angles of the roof.

Hence, there is no such as standard rafters distances and beam distances.

To give you a typical, if the thickness of your corrugated sheet is thin, you need a closer rafter to rafter spacing, say .6m, if it is thick, spacing maybe .9m.

That also depends on the angle of roof. High angle creates a big surface area, this will result to high voume of water. Not like, if a low profile roof, you will get less water.

Another thing. use light color roof to reflect heat. and use roof insulation.

If you want to be safe. Get a civil engineer to design it properly.

Cheers
