Hello. I was thinking of doing my own exterior painting. The house is a two storey with uneven ground (on a hill). Only the front part is cemented, the two sides are on limestone.

I have some excess 2x4 and 2x3 cocolumbers. Any idea on how to use these as scaffolds so I can do the painting? Max height of the step would only be about 4meters.

Re: Scaffolding for painting

You can just attach the paint roller to long pole to paint those unreachable areas.

Coco lumber is very unstable and too cumbersome to use as a scaffold, unless of course you are a carpenter by profession. Better to use steel H-frames or bamboo(cumbersome too). But if the two aforementioned is not available then better use a 10-12 ft ladder and telescopic handles for the roller.

They are usually bought brand new but too expensive for one time use only. There are ads for used frames on buy and sell magazine at a fraction of the cost. If you really want it cheap, visit a junk shop, they usually have h-frames for sale by the kilo likewise BI pipes and swivel clamps that you can use. There are a lot of junk shops in sumulong hiway in antipolo also in marikina. HTH

It may not be worth your while koykoy, If you have access to 1-1/4 BI pipes then I suggest forgo with the welding and use swivel clamps instead. Assembly and dismantling would be a breeze......all you will need is a size 17 wrench. Where are you from?
