we are about to renovate a house. the boundaries of the panels (exterior) are already showing. the previous owner used those pre-fabricated cement boards (i don't exactly know what you call them). painting over them won't really hide the panel marks. i've been thinking of using those horizontal sidings that look like wood. no need to repaint the exterior house every 3 years and the sidings will cover the ugly panels. who has an idea how much these sidings are? who has any experience with sidings? are they maintenance-free? pros and cons?

the joints of the pre-fab walls are showing. putting masilya/putty isn't effective in covering up the prominent joint lines. instead of seeing one straight, flat wall, you see the joints of the pre-fab walls even if the wall is newly painted. i will post a pic when i can.

im not sure but maybe you mean this,

http://www.sulit.com.ph/index.php/view+classifieds/id/4389886/Fiber+cement+composite+planks+...+weatherproof%2C+durable+etc?referralKeywords=FIBER+CEMENT

their fibercement planks, they have wood grain pattern on them but you still have to paint over them every once in a while. advantage is unlike palitada ng cement which will eventually crack this one wont.

have you considered using mesh fiberglass before putting the masilya on? they've discussed this before on another thread.

other option is to use pvc siding, they have wood grain pattern on them comes in different colors, no need to paint over them. problem is i havent seen it sold locally, you will have to import them.

also another option is to use aluminum composite, like the ones they use in buildings. you dont have to paint over it for years. kaya lang baka mag iba itsura ng house mo hehe. hitech kasi itsura nito eh.

yes, that's what i had in mind. ang mahal pala 🙁 hindi pa kasama dyan ang labor. this would have been a good option to cover up the ugly exterior walls. konting maintenance lang (i hope). buti pa yun mga "bahay na bato," maintenance-free walls. i forgot to bring my camera for the pictures. hopefully, i can post within the next few days the pictures so you get can idea of what i'm talking about.

here's a pic of the house to get a clear picture of our problem. the joints of the pre-fab walls are already showing. painting the whole wall won't really hide the joints from showing.
