Mga sirs, I am planning to design and build a 6x6feet gazebo o pergola at my house corner.

Possibly for your post, you can use a 4" or 6" diameter galvanized iron pipes with welded 3/4" thick plates at the bottom which you can bolt them to your concrete footings. Make sure to put some bracing or removable / detachable beams on the upper portion to strengthen the four posts. For your partial protection from the sun, you could probably use/hang some canvas awnings that can also be easily removed.

Hope this helps.

i agree with, if your plan is to make the gazebo movable, them using metal would be the best option - the whole frame of the gazebo could be assembled using bolts so that you can easily disassemble it and move it to another place.
for the partial protection from the sun, you can use a plastic straw garden shade (i think the number is #70 or #60) which you can easily string to the upper frame of the gazebo to provide the person with some shade.
as for the 'duyan' , you may have to analyze how the post for it should be done if it's going to be movable. i saw a movable 'duyan' at the mall before, the main (rectangular) frame is at the bottom of the 'duyan' which supports 2 triangular arms (extending outwards) on each side where you achor the 'duyan'. when someone lies on the 'duyan', the force excerted on the arms moves it towards the center of the 'duyan'. actually, the design is quite good and practical, you may want to google it or check it out in some furniture store near your place ... cheers

pre, thanks for sharing the info about matimco. FYI, their website is www.matimco.com. it's good to know that there are already local companies that manufacture processed wood - akala ko imported lahat from other asian countries. i also found some newspaper articles about matimco and their products. when i was doing research on materials for our house construction before, i read about 'plastic wood' and saw it first hand, how it was use in some places in SG for outdoor deck. it's texture is like natural wood but you know it's not natural wood because when you knock it, the sound is different :-). i think i also saw this being sold here in marbel at Citi Hardware. and let's not forget the versatile bamboo which is really a good material to use if properly preserved 🙂 - i'm still searching here in marbel or gensan where to buy borax and boric acid to test the bamboo preservation that i have noted before in my research.

the good thing is that, at least now, for any DIY outdoor projects using wood, there are a number of local (material) options one can consider - processed wood, plastic wood, and bamboo ... cheers

Boo!
