Re: soudproofing the wall?

I also used wooden studs for my walls. I had to go to an extreme route to soundproof the walls between the CR and the bedroom and dining room. I had to use different studs for the wall against the bathroom and the wall against the dining room. The space in between was then filled with fiberglass insulation.

Also, the use of gypsum board walling material will provide a measure of soundproofing. Plywood will transmit sound like a guitar.

Re: soudproofing the wall?

san po nakakabili nung fg insulation na nabanggit nyo?

Safety first - always wear face/eye/ear/hand protection as a minimum.

Re: soudproofing the wall?

Questn ... Yung paglagay po b ng styro board sa external wall bago magpalitada will help in soundproofing? . .

Re: soudproofing the wall?

sorry for OT: question on styro?, how long does it decompose if sandwitched in concrete?

Polymer has this.

Palagay ko concrete or palitada is enough to deflect sound. Styro is more for thermal insulation.

Kung ang source ng sound is indoors, you might want to install sound absorbing materials like heavy curtains or "paper egg tray" on the walls where the sound is produced.

As long as completely enclosed in concrete, palagay ko it will last for a long time. Problema nga natin sa environment kung paano tunawin ang mga plastic. I've heard it may last up to 100 years.

Meron na nga "Pacific garbage patch" dahil sa hindi natutunaw na plastic.

Ang initndi ko sa Styro plastic sya na puno ng air bubbles kaya magaan

I'm more concerned with rodent and cockroach infestation issues. Parang magnet sa ipis at daga ang styro eh.:D

Yes, but it's not that simple. See below:

Depends what kind of styropor you have in mind.
Structural styropor/styrofoam panelling is denser and doesn't suffer as much from
outgassing/compression the way that packaging-grade styropor panels/sheets do.
After all, such compression would effectively undermine the plaster. To be specific,
SIP's commonly last 50 years before significantly degrading. Common styropor has
a dimensional-stability lifespan measured in months.

Palagay ko concrete or palitada is enough to deflect sound. Styro is more for thermal insulation.

Cement plaster works better against high frequencies: low frequencies transmit
via dense plaster/brick/concrete like gangbusters, and that's where an air-gap
(styro panels do provide a like function) can help.

Stryo panels are primarily used indeed for thermal insulation, but a secondary use
has been found as a lightweight partitioning system, because styro is lighter (doh!)
than CHB/CBU. Of course Styro is a hell of a lot more flammable, and emits toxic
smoke when it burns.

Big difference between total decomposition and structural failure.
A piece of styro may last hundreds of years as an object, but as dimensionally-stable
building material, the industry standard for SIP's is again, 50 years. Probably less in
a very hot climate like the Philippines'.

Yesssss.
Isama mo pa ang termites, when installers neglect to peel off the paper backing.
