Brothers,

Please help naman po... 5 days pa lang kaming nakakalipat sa bagong bahay namin but I noticed on the ceiling... (Fiber Cement Board po pinalagay ko)... dun sa places na nagjo-join ang two panels is visible na nag-crack yung putty na ginamit ng gumawa.... preferably gawa siguro ng expansion (tama ba?) :c

Ano po bang solusyon dito... DIY lang po sana... kasi not all parts naman ay ganito in some portions lang ng kwarto. :c Ang gumawa lang ng bahay namin is hindi talagang contractor... pero yung mga mason lang sa neighborhood.

Re: Straigtline Cracks on New Ceiling

@hakudaten,

Yes bro, you are somewhat right on what cause those ceiling joints to crack. Remember that ceilings are layers or coverings under the galvanized roofing that absorbs heat from the sun. This hit generated by the roofing makes the trusses or purling to move, they expand or contract so even though our ceilings are nailed or screwed to the purlings , they also move with them.

One way I know to fix those fine line crack in your ceilings joints is to, buy some 1" gauze (gasa) sa Mercury drug store or any Botica near you, then cut them to 12" or 24" strips, then on a tray lay it down and brush some acrylic latex liberally, undiluted, then spread that gauze strip on to the joint pressing it little by little , continue this till all joints have been covered, then apply a coat of that acrylic latex onto that strip and let dry completely. :banana2:

Perhaps the next day when it is completely dry, you can now apply the ceiling putty or masilya on top of the dried "gasa", try the Plasolux by Boysen, apply it with a putty knife spreading it evenly onto the surface, then let dry completely and then reapply one more coat then let dry completely. When totally dry, do some light sanding on the surface to even out edges and then you can apply several coats of your ceiling paint. :2thumbsup:

Hope this helps if you will DIY your ceiling,
GOOD LUCK :tounge2: :rofl:
