it sounds stupid, but do you hav suggestions on how to install tile edging after the tiles have been laid?

(that is other than redoing the edge tiles)

Re: tile edging after tiles

hahahaha, You must have forgotten to install that PVC tile edging or who ever installed that didn't plan well before the tile installation. Hope you can post a pic or two of the said mistake if there is, so it is easier to find a solution.

Wow that's gonna be medyo matrabaho !! Here is an option I can think of. :juggle:

If you have laid several tiles already and the adhesives have dried completely, sorry but you will have to break and replace the tiles to expose the edge. BUT... a few pieces pa lang, try to scrape the cement or adhesive patiently under the tiles or USE AN ANGLE GRINDER fitted with DIAMOND CUTTING DISC and try to carefully, slowly and little by little make a pass under the tile to give space for that portion of pvc that needs to be inserted inside, then caulk it with silicon clear adhesive. OH by the way are you talking of kitchen tile applications on kitchen counters ???

Hope this helps

fortunately, i wasn't the one who tiled it (less insult on me :p). the house was built that when it was bought - that is not any of the tiles had edging! personally i find it clean looking (subjective allow me to say), but in the long run it will be prone to chipping and would definitely be an eye sore!

i'm talking about the edges of the windows and some cutouts in the toilet and the dirty kitchen sink. it would be worth to try the approach you suggested as what i have in mind, but yea it is very cumbersome and time consuming, but then less hassle, cleanup and cost than changing the tiles. it's the kitchen sink that creeps me since its the one that's "abused."

i reckon i also have to cut the vertically placed tiles a bit to give way for the d@mn edging, and i had to use a nasty grinder. (looks like i have a reason to get an mx30) 😀

i'll post pics later

Re: tile edging after tiles

Yes bro same thing was done on my kitchen counter tiles as well as the wall bathroom tiles, no tile edgings, but of course I didn't know it yet when I constructed my house in the early eightees. Now edges of the counter have been chipped of and swmbo is already suggesting to replace and work on them kitchen counter and bathroom walls.

Any way when I did my second kitchen annex and tiled the very large counter, ayun alam ko na, those PVC edging where placed together with the tiles sa mga edges, so kasama na sya na naipit habang natutuyo ang adhesives. 😉

I just remembered bro instead of using an angle grinder, you can use an all purpose tool if you have one or a Dremel rotary tool, they have thinner cutting blades for concrete, I think they will be perfect for your kind of application para hindi masira yung tiles. What do you think bro ??

Re: tile edging after tiles

Since its already there, maybe just wait for them to chip off before undergoing the repair. It would be wise to stock up on the same size/color/design of the tiles though.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.
