Re: Using cement as roof..

The main problem would be water seepage. You will need a good waterproofing, one that will seal even if the concrete roof cracks, as it likely will.

Re: Using cement as roof..

Thanks for the info. If you don't mind, could you recommend good waterproofing sealants?

Re: Using cement as roof..

I don't recommend a do-it-yourself sealant, but a hot application by professionals.

Re: Using cement as roof..

i just finished my house with a roofdeck. so far no crack naman at walang leaks. already 4 months in this typhoon season and ok pa naman.

i think very important na the concrete slab, column, beams and rebars are properly designed so they would reduce the possibility of water leaks.

but in the event na may leak, id be going for cementitious waterproofing or membrane type. costs around Php 500 per sq.m (for the membrane)

If you need a cementitious waterproofing, Id recommend Superseal mixed with Acrybond as Ive used that in my deck as well. For more than 5 years na wala pa ring leak. You can call up Ortigas Hardware at 6314059 - thats where i bought it from. Hope that helps.

bobby: how is that applied? parang painting lang?

so far di pa naman nag leak ung roofdeck ko. it also helped na around 13cm ung thickness and monolithic pouring ung concrete (with the beams)

Where can I buy here in Manila waterproofing materials for the concrete roof of the house I am building?

Re: Using cement as roof..

TY in advance

Re: Using cement as roof..

Re: Using cement as roof..

Ahh leaking from roof deck, same problem in my house

Targa, Do you know what type of water proofing was used? heat activated asphalt looking thingy? or cement based ? or something else?

injecting the epoxy will not stop it at all. If you will have to apply epoxy you will have to cover the whole area. because the line where the cement and epoxy meets will always have a gap because they are not the same material.

Thoro seal is awesome. its great. but just like epoxy you have to COVER the entire area with it otherwise it wont work. for best result dapat pa tik tik mo uli yung cement floor, pahiran mo ng 2 to 3 coats of thoroseal then palitada. Or better yet after thoroseal tiles it then as grouting use SIKAFLEX, its heavy duty stuff. We used it on water proofing insulated stainless steel..

Tiles can be cheap. sikaflex might be a little more dear. Thoroseal isnt cheap 🙁
