Water meter turning forwards/backwards

Hi All,

Any one experienced this? All outlets of water are already closed inside the house so no way out. As for leaks, I don't think there is.

What happens is like this:
- meter stops
- after a few secs, turns backwards
- meter stops
- after a few secs, turns forwards
- meters stops
- cycle repeats

What city/town is this meter located? Do you have a pump? Is your water supply 24x7? Are you in a subdivision with its private water supply?

i'm in marikina with a constant supply from maynilad, no water pumps.

sir nangyari din sakin yan ang sabi ng water company samin may na trap lang na hangin sa loob ng tubo,airpocket kumbaga..dunno in your case kung ganun lang din better report it to maynilad para makasiguro ka.

Marikina is served by Manila Water, not Maynilad. I work for Manila Water. Please PM me your name, address, and other contact info and we'll have it fixed.

Yes, trapped water may cause erratic behavior on meters. Or could be defective meter.

As for trapped air, I already 'bled' the faucets by running them for a few mins until a steady stream of water comes out. Results are still the same.

Yeah, I think it's manlia water - those 2 companies are getting me confused to be honest. The builder of the houses also say the same thing that the new meters of manila water that are being installed on the houses that they build run backwards then forwards. Come to think of it, is a check valve part of the standard installation of manila water? - it comes 'before' the meter right?

Check valves are not part of standard installation. You may opt to install one "after the meter". But let's check your meter first.
