Re: water proofing ng pader

OK, did have the same problem with my firewall too, I guess your firewall outside has already been plastered to a rough or fine finish, anyway whichever, you can paint it with black coal tar, about two or three coats, why three coats, kasi the first coat ay sisipsipin pa ng concrete so there will be portions na ninipis and application so you follow it up a second coat, now the third coating ay panigurado lang so the all portions of the wall have thicker coatings. You will have to let dry each coating before new applications are made, kaya lang bro black ang firewall mo.

Another is using Super THOROSEAL Waterproof Coating, it is a non toxic cement based that can be applied by brush, trowell or roller. Two coats will do and instructions are on the label, madaling ifollow at madaling gamitin. This is about 600.00 + /gallon sa mga mall hardware, baka less sa neighborhood hardware stores.

There is another brand but quite expensive, DRYLOCK water proofing paint, for concrete application, get the latex/acrylic base, not the oil/enamel base paint. Also available at home depots and mall hardwares, priced about 1.5 K or more per gallon, not so sure bro.

HOPE this helps, 😉 🙂

Re: water proofing ng pader

I use Aqua Guard Elastomeric Waterproofing Paint. Comes in different colors. A little over P500 per gallon at Ortigas Home Depot. Wilcon does not carry it.

Available in various colors. I prefer Sheen White. As much as possible avoid dark colors on your firewall because it absorbs heat. Mainit sa loob esp during summer.

Tip when applying multiple coats especially over a large area: use different color per coat so you can see total coverage per coat.

Brad, pwede siguro provided the coal tar's last coating is totally dry, yun bang wala ng lagkit sa kamay pag hinawakan.

You can take or follow also the reply of bro joey81, you can re apply another light colored over the black coating so to deflect heat and keep you cool inside too. 😉

Good day po,

paano po ang proseso pag aaply ng coal tar? direkta po lang ba itong ipapahid sa firewall na iwawater proof?, o me kailangan pa I prepare ang wall, i.e. lagyan ng putty, masilya etc.

thanks po in advace.

The coal tar you buy in quart size or gallon size can readily be used with a brush on the rough surface firewall or
if the wall has a smooth finish, you may use a roller or the usual, the brush. You can do two or three coats of the

During the building of a firewall, how can we make it permanently waterproofed, in case you find it difficult to re-paint with waterproofing paint later if a structure is built alongside it. I saw the link to the post above and it seams like similar to what we do on second floor bathroom floors. But, in bathroom floors you can plaster over it, while on walls, will the plaster still adhere if there is a waterproofing primer applied?

Yes as long as your concrete slab has been well supported by beams plus you used the right size specs of corrugated steel bars inside your slab. Just keep the slab water proofed all the time.

How thick is your concrete slab if I may ask ?
