Re: Wood Parquet Q

I do not have experience DIY parquet flooring. But wood laminate flooring can easily be installed by any competent pinoyhandyman.

When I installed wood laminate flooring, it cost me around P600 per square meter. This was of the Hornitex brand. Other brands are more expensive. It took me around 1 day to install 10 square meters.

What is important in wood laminate flooring is that the floor on which it will be installed should be very flat and level. All wooden floors, parquet or wood laminate, need a concrete floor that is protected from moisture seeping up from the ground.

Re: Wood Parquet Q

In our place the cost of wood parquet is per square foot....the shop near us quote me 75 pesos/sq ft. or around 800 pesos per square meter if you convert....the wood type is LANGKA which is typical in our area....

I've had bad experience using laminated flooring in our master bedroom.....nagtikwasan ung mga planks....because of uneven floor level :(.....lessson learned... ;D

Re: Wood Parquet Q

From what I know, most of the bedrooms in condominium units that were installed earlier on with wooden parquet now have experienced and have shifted and renovated using better maintainance and less worrysome substitute, laminated wooden planks, now flooding the market in different brands, coming from France, Germany, Sweden, and USA, with different wood color to match your taste.
Although wooden parquet has that natural wood feel and texture yet the better laminated wood planks has better polished looks and feel, and less maintenance to boot. Parquet needs to be sanded, polished, and applied with polyvarnish to look nice and shiny after installation, in addition to the problem of chipping off due to the eventual cracking of the adhesive in two or three years. Laminated planks are easy to install and need no adhesive because they are designed to be clipped to each other and because it occupies larger areas, they dont chipped off as easily like the parquet. But parquet do not need underlays like the wood planks.
But for heavy traffic areas, I have doubts of its durability, even with wood parquet.

Re: Wood Parquet Q

Thus if you can install wood laminate yourself, which is within the capabilities of the Pinoyhandyman, wood laminate of Hornitex brand is cheaper at around P600 per square meter, compared to wood parquet which costs around P75 per square meter.

One should also consider the time needed to install the wood parquet. One day to install, another day to sand, and finally a day to varnish. Then you need some time to have the varnish harden. For a house that's already being used, the time out of the bedroom will be significant.

I'll see if I can write a story on the installation of wood laminate flooring.

Re: Wood Parquet Q

Isa pang dahilan kaya nagtikwasan ay hindi kami naglagay ng tamang space between the laminated panels against the walls.

Re: Wood Parquet Q

Hi adzz,

1.Bka me alam kyong contractor ng ganito?Magkano po kya usually inaabot yung ganito?Mga gaano kay katagal install to?

or per sq feet / o meter din singilan nito?

2. isip ko lang po kung pwede bumili n lng ng glass (safety glass b gamit dito?) tpos IDIY n lng sya , kaso di ko sure kung wise move to o let the expert handle it!

Re: Wood Parquet Q

Re: Wood Parquet Q

yup, tama sila dapat meron space between yun laminate and wall kasi mageexpand pa sila, so yun mga umaangat dahil singad sa wall so pag expand ng laminate tutukod sa wall kaya umangat...

huwag kayo bumili sa wilcon or any other home improvement masyadong mahal taga....

Re: Wood Parquet Q

gud day po sa lahat. clarification lang po regarding wood tile installation. is it ok to directly lay wood tiles on concrete floor using white glue (stikwel)? kasi i've read somewhere that there should be a moisture barrier. thanks po.

Re: Wood Parquet Q

You only need a moisture barrier if the concrete floor is laid directly over the ground. You don't need the moisture barrier for the second floor.

I do not know how to lay a moisture barrier on a concrete floor that's already poured. What I have done in the past is to lay a moisture barrier before the floor is poured. In my case I simply lay a plastic sheet on the gravel base or tambak before the rebars are laid and the concrete poured. This moisture barrier has served me well in my house.
