i am looking for surface mount light switches that are activated by the cabinet door. had installed light fixtures inside the wardrobe cabinets. came across the ball type that are imbeded into the wood work but would rather use something more simple to mount. manually operated switches would only result in lights being left on because someone forgot to turn them off. any ideas. tia

Re: cabinet light switches

I know the switch you are reffering to, they are not as difficult to mount as you might think, a little chisel work will do the trick. now, wiring it after is the tricky part... lol

Re: cabinet light switches

thanks for the reply but because the cabinet walls are only 3/4 inch thick. not much can be done to imbed the ball switches. don't want to add any wood work inside to hold the switches either as it would be unsightly (overruled by a higher power ). afraid the only way to go is a surface mount switch.

Re: cabinet light switches

im just newbie here in site but i can picture what you want to happen. It's like switch in the fridge right? (hope it's right lol).

Try inquiring switch that is similar to the fridge, dnt actually know what it is called. In Avesco along Roosevelt or Deeco in Farmers Cubao, .

Hope it can help.

You can try to purchase a limit switch. Mga P120 lang yun. It activates/deactivates kapag may tumama sa toggle niya. Definitely ayoko ng ball switch cuz i was once electrocuted sa ball switch na yan when i was just a kid beginning to toy around with our house.

Parang ngang ganun. I was "fondling" with the ball switch when i was a kid, trying to discover how it works. 😀

I'm just about to start my HT room. Ayoko muna ng SARS. :p I need to concentrate on the treatment on my HT room and how to integrate the "theme". John P., btw, has my amp. Pina-repair ko.

@ Violaine:

I think walang stock si hafele. The limit switch is ready available sa mga industrial supplies. If you're from QC, you can have my spare kung isa lang kailangan mo.

Re: cabinet light switches

Anyone know of a reed switch (magnetically activated switch) at Deecos or Alexan? I think this kind of switch would be perfect. No moving parts to break. Only problem is, the reed switch I know are normally open (i.e. in the "off" position) and close (switch on) when a magnet is drawn near. A normally closed reed switch on 220 volts is probably best. Or, with some installation ingenuity a normally open 220V reed switch could still work.

This is interesting. My closets' cabinet doors are in need of repair. Pag sinipag, I may do the same light set-up.

Re: cabinet light switches

For NO reed switches, with additional wiring and a relay, it may work.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

I bought a handful of these from Alexan a couple of years ago. They have both normally open and normally closed. I was planning on using them as window sensors but it didn't push through.

Yup! Perfect for cabinets! Now if I can only remember where I put them things. 🙁
